Julian Assange, who was plucked from the Ecuadorean Embassy a few months ago, is now at an extradition hearing which will determine whether he is sent to the US to face charges there. I think that he and Wikileaks and Chelsea Manning did some wonderful stuff with the initial releases on information; but I think that Assange should have gone to Sweden to face sexual assault charges there.

The Guardian is reporting the hearing:
In his submission, Lewis [James Lewis, QC, appearing for the US authorities] accused Assange’s lawyers of conducting a defence consisting of “an attack upon the president of the United States [which] ignores the institutional competencies of the agencies relevant to this case, the constitution of the United States and the independence of its courts”.
I'm trying to think of someone else who
- ignores the institutional competencies of federal agencies
- ignores the constitution of the United States; and
- ignores the independence of its courts.

I'm sure it will come to me.
