U.S. District Court judge, summarizing Fox's (successful) argument why Tucker Carlson could not be held liable for defamation:

"Fox News first argues that, viewed in context, Mr. Carlson cannot be understood to have been stating facts ...

Fox persuasively argues, see Def Br. at 13-15, that given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer “arrive{s} with an appropriate amount of skepticism” about the statements he makes."

McDougal v. Fox News Network, LLC, No. 1:19-cv-11161 (SDNY, 09-24-2020) (Vyskocil, J).

In other words, no reasonable person would believe a goddam thing Tucker Carlson says, according to Tucker Carlson's attorneys, and we have to agree.
GAH!

"Reasonable person" is not the target demographic of either Tucker Carlson or Fox News.

If, therefore, Carlson is a lying turd and both he and his employers have admitted it in sworn statements in a court of law — and said court of law has accepted these admissions as fact, then how long will it be before Faux News gives him the heave-ho?   And if they don't, how long before they stop trying to pass themselves off as 'NEWS', even tongue in cheek?

Answer to first hypothetical question:  Not until his ratings crater.
Answer to second hypothetical question:  Never.

Further proof that Fox News has about as much correlation to journalism as the WWE has to actual wrestling.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

What a moronic statement, anyway. Feminism by definition involves a fair bit of outrage, when you see that the world is not just profoundly unfair but also far too often deadly just because of the genitalia one is born with. Outrage and discontent are the natural result of seeing the reality of this world, not just patriarchy but other systems which are intended and function well to oppress and torment so many beautiful human beings who deserve better. We all deserve better, including the oppressors.

Life is suffering, but nevertheless finding all the beauty in it is how we all survive and even, sometimes, thrive. Only a small minded simpleton expects a constant state of happiness - but then it is my experience that the most répugnantly sexist of men do expect women to be smiling simpering happy fools preferably with lots of T & A on offer.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Most people are not happy all the time, but I have known many women (and men for that matter) who embraced feminism and still find ways to be happy. Hell, I recall when I participated and anti war demonstrations during Viet Nam that it was easy to walk around being pissed all the time--there was plenty of reasons for being outraged and discontent, but most of us found time and reasons to feel good as well; I imagine those who were involved in the height of the civil rights movement in the deep south who still found ways to be happy at times. Hell, even in the Ukraine with all the violence going on, I'd bet people can take some modicum of happiness from little things. Some people can compartmentalize things, others cannot (or will not). Life is pretty complex, but most of us can extract some measure of joy from it, no matter what the circumstances.

Interesting, Scooter. 'Jordan' is certainly one of those names that goes both ways, as it were. It's a Hebrew derived name. I noticed that his full name is Jordan Bernt Peterson. I wonder if there is a clue there: 'Bernt Peter' might well refer to a botched circumcision at birth (it happens) which would explain much.

Maybe his middle name is actually “Bent”. Or maybe it’s “Peyronie”.

Tuberville is one of the denser of his profession and he may have been an excellent coach for all I know. But when did 'Coach' become an accepted honorific? I know we use Prof and Dr and Sen and Rep and Judge/Justice but that's about it. We don't address so-and-so as 'Bricklayer' Smith or 'Teacher' Jones or 'Customer Services Manager' Schmidt but of course Mr Tuberville seems to retain this honorific even after he is retired.

In other news the net seems to be closing in on Gym Jordan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwJQKLC1PZU
