Hartlepool is a very working class constituency in the NE of England which has just gone to the Tories (Conservatives) for the first time in 40+ years. That's a bit like Pittsburgh or Cleveland suddenly deciding that Trump and the Republicans would be their saviour.
The Labour Party has to come into the fold of supporting Brexit and planning and working for its success. I think it was a terrible decision and one with repercussions still to come. Hartlepool, because they were lied to over and over again (sound familiar to US listeners?) voted overwhelmingly for Brexit. It's a done (or done-ish) deal unless we go to war with the French, and Northern Ireland will have to sail off into the sunset. So we have to accept it and work for its success. Blo Jo got lucky with the vaccine rollout which seems to have gone better in the UK than elsewhere in the EU and voters' memories are short.
To quote from a BTL comment in the Guardian of which I whole-heartedly approve:
Not surprising. Brexit is the elephant in the room. So those of us who were Remainers - who think it was a terrible mistake in both concept and execution - have to swallow our pride and hope that we were wrong and that it will succeed. We have no option. Not unlike climate change in that respect: because nothing substantial is being done, at some point I have to just hope that I and the science have been wrong all along. That, even more than the terrible myopia of voters (and I live in Kentucky) keeps me up at night.

The trouble is that most remainers aren't. They are doing everything to make Brexit into a disaster, and by doing so, dragging the UK down with them. AS this is (quite rightly,) seen as predominantly a Labour phenomena, they aren't getting the votes.

Interesting. By this announcement, is Mr. Killick exempt from any accusations of sexual misconduct from staff members because they have been fore warned?

I shouldn't think so.
A registered sex offender has been confirmed as a candidate in the crucial upcoming by-election in Hartlepool.
Christopher Killick, who is standing as an independent in the contest, admitted to one count of voyeurism last year after recording a woman naked in a hotel room while she slept.
The 41-year-old was given a 30-month community order, ordered to pay £5,000 to his victim and also put on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
Killick said he wanted to try and fulfil his ambition of becoming an MP, despite knowing there would be a lot of “negativity” about being a registered sex offender.
He also admitted he had not put his sex offence on his election leaflets. “I do understand how it will be difficult for some people, perhaps everyone, to trust me,” he told the Teesside Live website.
