Uhhh... these people who are ranting and raving against the president's proposal/proclamation/whatever ARE aware, are they not, that this loan forgiveness only wipes $10,000 per borrower off the books?   And they DO know that the borrowers are still obligated to repay the remainder?   You sure couldn't tell it from the panicked tone in the GOP candidates' PAC-funded ads, which make it sound like Biden and the Democrats in Congress are flying over the country in Air Force One and tossing out bundles of Benjamins willy-nilly, the same way the Air Force used to drop propaganda leaflets during WWII, and that everyone with student loan debt is getting off scot-free.

The way I see it, knocking $10K off those loans is nothing more than the equivalent of making those loans interest-free instead of being charged whatever usurious rates the banksters were getting.
