Forget arrests. I want convictions. I want Hunter Biden convicted of felony gun purchase. I want ex-Pres convicted of leading a rebellion against the USofA. Make section three of the 14th Amendment the law again.

Section 3? What would that do? It would be tough to apply that penalty, especially since the Senate couldn't convict Trump of anything related to it. And I'd bet Congress would clear him rather than have the constit utional crisis that trying to enforce that would bring. But, face it, politicians always protect each other, and Trump is going nowhere--even the dems won't want that precedent; some strings will be pulled "for the good of the country" and we'll wind up just like after watergate. I would really like to be wrong, but I'd be shocked if I am. something short of a trial and conviction will end it all.

Amend 14, Sect 3 only requires conviction of rebellion in a federal criminal court. Congress only gets involved if 2/3rds agree to overrule it.

That is where the Justice Department, and spec pros Smith are going.

The current condition that congress has taken a 6 week vacation, eating up the time for the financial shut down agreement, may also bring up section four. Either should demonstrate the political whims of the supremes and make a joke of the 'conservative' position of 'original intent'.

Section 3 says "shall have engaged in", no conviction is required--nor was it in 1866, which is what it was enacted for--to prevent those involved in th war on the southern side from being elected to office. I think it unlikely it would apply to present day actions, especially as there is no guidanceas to haw to apply it and whether the courts should be involved at all. Indeed, it was a public problem even in 1868 (when it was ratified) and 4 years later Congress granted amnesty to all confederate military members by a 2/3 vote to end its application.

Given the activities and apparent identities of "co-conspirators 1-6" in the most recent Trump indictment (the "Jan. 6 case"), it appears that several (more) Trump lawyers are likely to be arrested, including Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Sydney Powell, Jeffrey Clark and Kenneth Cheesbro. I guess we'll know pretty soon whether separate indictments have been/will be issued by the grand jury. If the intent and the consequences had not been so serious, this would have all the makings of a hilarious legal clown show.

I’m just so tired of Drumpf.

Nice work by Jack Smith and team, though.

By the way here’s a link to the indictment which is worth the time it takes to read. Noteworthy that the indictment is 45 pages in length. Jack Smith seems like a very serious person and I appreciate his diligence, and I also appreciate that little Easter egg.

I prefer to have Fooler Initiative (a Virginia criminal defense atty) read it to me on the Twatter. I'd listen to that girl all day the way she tells it ...

“What President Trump didn’t do is direct Vice President Pence to do anything,” Mr. Lauro [Trump's lawyer] said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “He asked him in an aspirational way.”
I wasn't carjacking anyone...I just asked that guy for his Mercedes in an aspirational way.

From what I've seen of Mr. Lauro, Trump may have told him he's going to pay him but he might as well be working for Jack Smith.

Over at another site I frequent, we've got a thread going where we're doing a community collaboration to write new lyrics for the Charlie Daniels song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"

This one is called "Trump Went Down to Georgia".

I don't think we have to worry about Randy doing anything using the same song, since he (she?) seems to focus more on show tunes for source material.
