Legal Question About Trump's Gag Order

Post by Joe Guy »

I just read that Alina Habba had advised Trump not to testify at trial in his New York fraud case while he's under a gag order. I don't understand the reasoning for a couple of reasons.

First, I thought gag orders meant that people were supposed to keep their mouths shut about certain things outside of court. I guess I'm wrong about that.

Second, I thought the gag order was to prevent Trump from commenting on court personnel. How would not being able to comment on court personnel have any affect on his ability to testify on the facts of his case?

lets him bluster and keeps him off the stand.I think that's what his advisers are telling him to keep him off the stand and making things even worse, a win - win from his side's perspective.

Maybe Trump finally got some good advice and took it. I guess Habba was spinning it to make it look like there was a reason other than to prevent him from making more of a fool of himself.
