Oh for pity’s sake wesw it was on a live feed video that was seen the world over. Do a Google search. Apparently the anonymous sources are saying he had a paper cut from playing with stuff on the defense table during court and those were blood spots which were gone at his next public appearances. Pretty gross that he didn’t wash his hands at any point before going out in public, but that’s typical man behavior.

If you’re in the small percent who actually wash with soap long enough to clean their hands after using the bathroom, good on ya!

I hope the publicity around the pandemic improved the individual habits of hand washing. The actual scientific observation of public bathroom behavior does indicate men are less likely to wash effectively than women. This is only a general observation. Individual results will vary.

But it does remind me of an old military culture story. A Marine and a Sailor go into the head together. As they leave the sailor declares: in the Navy, they teach us to wash our hands after unination. The marine replies: in the Marines, they teach to not pee on our hands.

I also have been informed (not by a particularly reliable source) that Germany has passed a law against men urinating while standing up in public bathrooms. Objective measurement has determined that the typical 'standing' method, even with most carefully designed urinals, releases droplets into the atmosphere that are generally distributed around the room. Sitting down over the commode confines them better.

And, FWIW, I think the biggest reason for the discrepancy between men and women in post lavatory handwashing is because of urinals. Women enter into stalls and sit on (squat above) commodes which previous participants may well have used for "number 2"; they touch a lot of surfaces, even just for urination. Men stand in front of a urinal, adjust the aim (maybe only with one or two fingers) and leave. Not that this means they shouldn't was their hands, but many think their hands are not really dirty since they touched nothing and didn't "piss on their hands" , as the old joke from BP says. I do not really make an effort to observe people in the men's room but, except for Poppy on Seinfeld, I don't think I have seen men exiting a stall not washing their hands (although I wouldn't be surprised if I did).

FWIW, as we progress to unisex restroons (as I have seen in Europe), urinals may well become a thing of the past, so behaviors may change.
