He couldn't locate his cojones to speak up six months ago?

He did misspell "trafficked and raped" incorrectly, though.

I get the impression that he’s making a play for power. Right now I think he’s trying to set himself up as the “heir to the Republican Party after Trump loses.

Not that I really think he’s the one for the job but he has money and influence. That may be enough but I don’t think he’s the realignment this country needs in fact he seems to be more of the same that created the opening for Donald Trump to emerge.

Your first reply to a thread doesn't cause the blank screen error, just the subsequent ones. That's why it seems random.

I stand by my assessment of McCarthy from two years ago (which is the same as my assessment of McCarthy four and six years ago, since nothing has changed):

Mitch McConnell and especially Kevin McCarthy are the invertebrate species of weasel that we have all always known them to be, concerned only with their own power to rule whatever slice of Hell they can, and willing to lick the sweaty and odiferous taint of Donald Trump if that's what it takes. They are an embarrassment to American government and their continued tenure in elected office is proof that their constituents who voted for them give not one fuck about our foundational principles of democracy.

Nailed it, Sue! Having said that, if I were forced to pick between McCarthy and Mike Johnson I think I'd choose McCarthy. On a 1 to 10 scale of odiousness Johnson is a 9.9 (TFG has a permanent claim to the 10-spot here) while McCarthy is only a 9.5.

Wait a minute. What is the range of this Odiousness Scale? What does Lauren Boebert of Colorado score? Is it a logarithmic scale? Does it max out at 14, like the pH scale? Or is it ten, like the ideosyncratic informal female sexiness scale of the male culture? [Is that one an off shoot of the serious male debates on can Capt. Marvel beat up Wonder Woman?]]

Always interested in objective measurements in politics ever since I learned how important the one-armed economist was for Harry Truman.

snailgate.

I have just heard on NPR that Johnson has offered MT Greene (R-GA) a position as Advisor to the Speaker because she has been saying mean things about him. I think he has just booted himself up to a 9.95.
