One issue is the scientific basis for the 6 feet social distancing - what, if any, was the scientific basis for this? Fauci and others have said that the 6 foot figure was not developed from a scientific study and have taken heat for this. There was not time to do a 2 year study that might have decided that 5.3 or 7.5 or 8.6 feet was the most scientifically justified. To me the 6 foot distance was like the 25 mph limit outside my house: an attempt to make a compromise between public safety and how we conduct our lives.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has just shown pictures of two beagles! I think maybe it is smoking research - not sure - but I really don't know what it has to covid research. She refuses to call him Dr Fauci - it's Mr Fauci all the way.

This hearting is just idiotic. It seems that some of Fauci's senior people were actively trying to avoid FOIA but not Fauci.

We've just had Dr Ronny Jackson spend his five minutes level accusation after accusation at Fauci - and then his time is up and Fauci has no opportunity to respond.

These "hearings" are not designed to get answers or to elucidate any truths or to generate any genuinely useful information of any kind. They are photo ops for the Members so they can create sound bites and campaign ads showing The Base how tough they are on Fauci, because MAGAworld has decided he's the real villain of the COVID-19 pandemic for recommending everyone wear masks and get vaccinated. But if you elect clowns, you really can't be surprised when you get a circus.

My sister is convinced Fauci lies more than most politicians--he is just a power-hungry place holder in the giant machine that is the CDC. The CDC acts only to acquire more power or support what it already has. Her education was as an elementary school special ed teacher, and served most of her working life as a school librarian. She firmly believes she 'can do her own research.' She has no comprehension that real scientists only speak in approximations, always subject to change with more information. She believes scientists should only speak in absolutes. She stares at me blankly when I relate the time President Truman asked for a one-handed economist.

Do I need to add she prides herself on her independent thinking and is a firm supporter of Trump?

Tell your sister that Fauci doesn't work for the CDC and never has. He joined the NIH immediately after completing his residency and was there for 50+ years until his recent retirement in '22. He repeatedly declined the directorship of the NIH in his later career, so he doesn't seem to be a very good power-hungry politician type.

Your sister sounds like a very good low-information Trump voter.
