US President Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” while speaking to reporters about Nato’s support for Ukraine. He later corrected himself, before Zelensky took the microphone.
"President Putin?" Biden said, correcting himself. "President Zelensky. I'm so focused on beating Putin."

I’m so exasperated by this situation.
Biden ALWAYS made gaffes like this - way back in the late 80s when he first ran for president he was already known as a gaffe king.
Is it a little worse because he has an aging brain? Probably. Is he non compos mentis? No way.
The Democrats are going to mess up this election and drive us all down the road to fascism.

I agree. The democrats are making the situation much worse than it should be. Instead of supporting Biden, some of them are turning against him, while the liberal media brings attention to anything Biden does that isn't perfect.
I remember commenting here on Biden right after he was elected and saying that people should prepare to hear gaffes from him because that's one thing he's always been known for. Now his gaffes are all described as symptoms of mental deterioration.
It doesn't matter if Biden can't be president for four more years. The most important thing to do now is to keep Trump out of office.

Yes, yes, yes. But Nixon lost debates and the presidency because he sweat on TV - but he sounded great on radio. I still hope that the poll numbers show a close race. Sleepy Joe must win or we're all lost.
Joe Biden took to the stage at his Thursday night news conference with everything on the line – his presidency, his re-election hopes, his political life... The situation will not be helped by two excruciating gaffes that will be remembered by anyone who watched.
In his very first answer, he called his own Vice-President Kamala Harris "Vice-President Trump" – a painful faceplant in front of a national television audience... That came just an hour after another headline-grabbing mistake at a Nato event, when Mr Biden introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "President Putin", prompting loud gasps in the audience.
He corrected the first verbal misstep involving Ukraine's leader quickly. The second one he didn’t catch, even as some reporters in the room murmured in surprise and several of his top Cabinet secretaries sat stone-faced in the front row of the audience.

He has made these gaffes throughout his career, but lately he is reminding more and more of Gerald Ford. The gaffes seem to be getting worse, though--Vice President Trump? He did OK in the press conference last night (some of his foreign policy answers were much more detailed than anything Trump has ever said), but he did seem to ramble (providing a number of gaffes) and his looking at the paper for which reporter to call on didn't help). I think this is the reason he was never the nominee before the last election (remember the plagiarized speech in 1987?--I don't think he was ever destined to be president and front and center in the spotlight; he was much better as a senator who could work behind the scenes and broker support of legislation--even across party lines). But he is the presumptive nominee and will likely face off against Trump.
As Bill Maher said, I would vote for Biden's head in a jar of blue liquid over Trump. I will cast my vote for whomever the dems run (there is no one I have heard of who could possibly be worse than Trump IMHO). The scary thing is that a dem victory seems less and less likely--Biden keeps digging himself into a hole (I don't know if it's him or age or a combination of the two), I don't think Harris can win (for reasons I have said before), and, if they run someone other than Harris, they likely will lose some of the women and black vote (most of whom won't vote for Trump, but just stay home). Even if Biden voluntarily steps aside, I do not think it can change the ultimate result.
The only thing that might help is a staged assassination attempt (where he will not be really injured, but will say he cannot go on because of it) and then his stepping aside amidst a whirlwind of public support which might get them dems behind his replacement; but I don't know any dem strategists who would handle this--maybe they could hire Rove? And lest someone threaten to call the FBI on me, I am NOT recommending this.

Video is good but the article sums it up.
If Biden can sit in a room and converse on a wide range of serious issues in depth with leaders like Starmer and Macron and Zelenskyy, how can anyone seriously suggest he is not fit to run and serve?

True, but in a country that elected Donald Trump to the presidency once, why do you expect any logic. Perceptions trump (word used intentionally) logic--and the perception is that Biden is not all there. It's not fair to Biden, but the vote doesn't have to be fair.

What I find to be truly mind-boggling is that many of the same people who point to things like the gaffes mentioned conveniently overlook the many times that Captain Combover, during his frequent servings of stream-of-semi-consciousness word salad, has done much the same thing. In my opinion, the country would be better off if neither of these two were even under consideration for the office of POTUS instead of being the
de facto candidates.
Having said that, however, I too agree that Trump needs to be kept out of the Oval Office at any cost, and solemnly vow that I'd vote for Biden's head in a glass jar
(reminiscent of the 'Head of Richard Nixon' from the 'Futurama' TV show) rather than the hairy turd that walks like a man.

You'll never get me doing that; Trump makes little to no sense almost all the time--but it apparently works; he has supporters who enthusiastically endorse him. I don't understand it, but then Carter (in 1976) was the last politician I campaigned for (and McGovern before that--although I preferred McCarthy, even after he dropped out); I have long convinced myself that voting for the lesser of two evils is the best I can usually do (and many times, if there's not all that much of a difference between the two, or the votes in my state are pretty much set, I will vote for a third party candidate (although I did regret that on occasion). In this case, the primary goal is to defeat Trump; if I thought any of those put forward as potential replacements had a better chance, I would advocate dumping Joe in a minute--but I have not seen that (and sadly, I have serious doubts about Joe beating Trump). The dems shot themselves in the foot here, and we will have to live with the consequences. At the very least, they should redouble efforts to hold the Senate and have a majority in the House to counter president Trump. The next four years are likely to be hell.
