Today I was reading through a few Yahoo articles. I came across this article about Rep. Ayanna Pressley wanting Joe Biden to grant clemency to thousands of people - and I read a few of the comments...

Can't help but think that if people — black, brown, yellow, white, male, female, it don't matter — would stop flouting laws and start respecting due authority, they wouldn't BE incarcerated.

Respecting laws (or at least just laws) I can see, but what is "due authority" and when must it be respected? Certainly not all those in nominal authority are due any respect, especially those who do not provide any respect toward others.
