Musk and 'Hitler' salute

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and waddles like a duck, it's probably a duck.

I don't know if he intended a Roman or 'Hitler' salute; but he's supposed to be the world's smartest man. If he gives this sort of signal which can be mistaken for or misinterpreted then he is in the running for world's dumbest man.

Better watch it or he'll steal Trump's title.

No, he's the world's richest man. Nothing about him says "smartest," or barely even "smart." I have seen nothing that changes my assessment of him from two years ago:

I didn't really know much of anything about Elon Musk until his purchase of Twitter last year, and as much of a shit-show as the deal itself was, his chaotic stewardship of the operation since has been an absolute debacle. If I were being charitable, I'd say his tweets have shown him to be juvenile, unthinking, ill-equipped for leadership and wholly oblivious to the role and effect of social media; he's the poster child for Dunning-Kruger Syndrome. My alternative take would be that he knows exactly what he's doing and is purposely facilitating disinformation and mainstreaming authoritarians, racists, fascists and Nazis.
Actually, I have a slight modification: It's not an "alternative take;" both things are true.

The ADL and Bibi the genocidal lunatic both defended Musk's harmless Roman salute so we have nothing to fear people.

The ADL's position on anything related to Musk is highly questionable considering its CEO, former techbro Jonathan Greenblatt, has been sucking up to Musk for the last year and a half, ever since Musk threatened to sue the ADL for his loss of ad revenue after he re-platformed all the Nazis on his enshittified bird app. And Netanyahu doesn't give a fuck about Nazis in America as long as the weapons and political cover keep coming.

But you know who knows Nazis when they see them? Germans:

Also, the fact that actual Nazis are cheering Musk's Nazi salute should be some indication of the audience it's reaching. I'm not interested in being gaslighted into denying what I see with my own goddam eyes.

In this modern techno world, the picture above this post does not persuade me. People move around alot when speaking in public. Cameras can record a hundred shots in a second. One still could be a complete distortion of what actually happened.

The pro forma nod to fairness. The reality is that there are many sources that show a complete moving sequence. Musk concludes his talk, stops. Moves his right hand to his upper chest, then flings his whole right arm out straight in what is exactly like what I saw in news reals about Germany in the thirties.

So my SIL is one who doesn't let any data (like the event we discuss in this thread) linger long enuf in her attention to have any affect at all except to confirm that I am a woke liberal who should be subject to careful re-education.

snailgate.

Oh I am in complete agreement. There are many who equate $$ and smarts - many of whom voted for Trump - and I was quoting them.

Now come on now, how many people do you know of low intelligence can make a fortune or even hold on to money. They can't keep money because there's too many shit heads in the world that are too eager to take their money from them. The world is full of shit heads that love to abuse, brutalized, and rape the weak. You can't even leave money to an individual of low intelligence because there's too many those people around to take it. So, Musk must have some ability of some kind. Now just because a person is wealthy and intelligent doesn't mean I would vote for him; there are many wealthy people that I'm certain do not have my interest at heart. Democrats made a lot of money shipping American jobs overseas; I would bet they're heavily invested in China.

Donald J Trump springs to mind. But there were others.
And this: Democrats made a lot of money shipping American jobs overseas; I would bet they're heavily invested in China.
All those factory owners who decided that their products would be better / faster/ cheaper if made in China must have been Democrats. Sure, lib.

That's bullshit you can't blame people for taking advantage of a situation that Democrats created. It was the Democrats who started the ball rolling with NAFTA. Remembered that it was a rich white guy who said that sucking Sound you hear is jobs leaving this country. Ross Perot was a rich man, he was a Republican, and he was a Patriot and y'all ridiculed him for it. And Bill Clinton got massively rich during the same time, but no one cared about that.

NAFTA was initially a Reagan idea and Bush Sr carried the ball for a while and it was eventually enacted during there Clinton era. So one of Reagan's better ideas but unquestionably it was an R program to begin with.

No, it was Democrats who made it a reality the majority Republicans voted against. These free trade schemes benefit people who have money to invest overseas, but the working-class people are hurt more than they are helped by these things. You liberals were wrong about all the predictions you made. You said foreigners would make the brooms and we would make the high-tech stuff; and by selling stuff to each other we'd all be more dependent on each other; that would lead to a freer, democratic, and peaceful world. That all turned out to be crap and you (Invoking the Bush rule) lied when you said it.

Not sure what I lied about, lib. Enlieten me.

Wikipedia she say:
Senate supporters were 34 Republicans and 27 Democrats.

I checked the vote at congress.gov in case Wikipedia had got it wrong. They hadn't.

He started a successful car company in the US. Something no one else has been smart enough to do in >60 years. He started spacex which has revolutionized that industry. He started Starlink and provided internet connectivity everywhere in the world. No individual has done even a fraction of these things.

Whether I like him or not only a fool would deny the intelligence. Some of his ideas are loopy, some, like buying twitter, are incomprehensible to me. The greatest danger I see is that he becoming a raging egomaniac needing ever bigger audiences, more attention, more praise. He is not so smart in social and political matters and he does not know it. Hence his embrace of Trump with no awareness of the danger it creates for all of us. He worries me. I think he has already slipped into serious mental pathology and will wind up hurting us.

He has enormous energy and astonishing organizational ability.
