sourceMississippi lawmaker introduces 'Contraception Begins at Erection Act'
Mississippi state Sen. Bradford Blackmon, a Democrat, introduced a bill this week that would seemingly ban men from masturbating or engaging in other sexual acts when they have no "intent to fertilize an embryo."
The bill, titled the "Contraception Begins at Erection Act," would make it unlawful for "a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo." It includes exceptions for sperm donation and using contraception to prevent fertilization.
The bill, introduced Monday, would impose fines of $1,000 for a first offense, $5,000 for a second offense and $10,000 for any subsequent offenses.
The bill is unlikely to pass the GOP-led Legislature, but if it does and is signed into law by Gov. Tate Reeves, a Republican, it would go into effect in July.
Blackmon, a first-term senator representing a district north of Jackson, the capital, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In a statement to NBC affiliate WLBT of Jackson, Blackmon referred to the high number of state legislative bills introduced in recent years that target women's access to reproductive health care, specifically abortion and contraception.
"All across the country, especially here in Mississippi, the vast majority of bills relating to contraception and/or abortion focus on the woman’s role when men are fifty percent of the equation," he wrote. "This bill highlights that fact and brings the man’s role into the conversation. People can get up in arms and call it absurd but I can’t say that bothers me."
Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022 and ended the constitutional right to abortion, legislatures in Republican-led states have increasingly sought to restrict abortion and contraception access.
Currently, 12 states, including Mississippi, have total or near-total abortion bans, while an additional six states ban abortion from six to 12 weeks of gestation, according to KFF, a nonprofit group that researches health policy issues.
By mid-2024, eight states had enacted or proposed restrictions on women's access to contraception, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a research group that supports access to abortion.

Would this not also make use of condoms illegal? Or was this the work around that produced the fine print on the package that said "for prevention of disease only" Does it also violate the right, endowed by a man's creator, to pursue happiness?

Good questions. It is logical to presume that purchasing a condom proves intent to discharge genetic material. Also, it should be noted that the sale of condoms would be considered complicity by the vendor to engage in an illegal dispensation of congenital expulsion.Burning Petard wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 4:30 amWould this not also make use of condoms illegal? As to the God-given right to the pursuit of happiness, I suppose the legal argument could be made by the prosecuting attorney that the Declaration of Independence is not a legal document and God gives us all the ability to do a lot of things we shouldn't do.

No, you are definitely barking up the wrong Scripture there. We know that the KJV, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Pledge of Allegiance and some god-awful song by a prophet of g-a songs are ALL, each and every one, endorsed by (not to mention breathed out by) the Supreme Law Giver and Savior, Donald "Jesus" Trump. DJ himself has "many Bibles" and it's his "favorite book". Evidently he rolls his own but I didn't even know he smoked. Other than the fiery trousers, natch.
Note that every order gets a free copy of the Almost Star Tribute to Lee Greenwood" - so it's no use buying two Bibles because they'll still send the awesome Tribute.

I would imagine one could have a vasectomy, and then do what they wanted as they would not be discharging genetic material.
But he was smart enough to limit this to men, or women would violate it every month.
And what of wet dreams?

I suppose at traffic stops in Mississippi, when the cops asked for drivers license, and car resigistration, they would also look to see if hairy palms were visible. I think other states already have laws prohibiting abortion that would make used menstrual pads potential evidence of a crime.

I just want to alert those of you who plan to buy the 'God Bless The USA Bible'. Trump says he is allowing you to buy it with four "interest free payments" of $15.00 but the total price is $59.99. Don't let him get away with this. Your final installment should be $14.99.MajGenl.Meade wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 10:59 am......No, you are definitely barking up the wrong Scripture there. Correction. Mr Trump's middle name is not 'Jesus". It is JizZeus.
