This time in Nashville.

From the CNN report:

AI gun detection software, which is used in all Metro Nashville Public Schools, failed to detect the shooter’s gun, district officials said Thursday. The technology, called Omnilert, didn’t spot the weapon because the shooter wasn’t close enough to cameras to get an accurate read and activate the alarm, the school district said.

“It does work, but it’s not going to work in every instance, in every spot based on where that weapon might be visible,” Sean Braisted, chief of communications and technology for the district, said in a news conference Thursday.

Omnilert CEO Dave Fraser said the safety and well-being of its schools is the company’s top priority. “Our hearts go out to the students, staff, families, and the entire Nashville community affected by this tragic event,” Fraser said in a statement to CNN Thursday.

“We can confirm that the Omnilert Gun Detect system is deployed at MNPS schools but in this case the location of the shooter and the firearm meant that the weapon was not visible,” Fraser said. “This is not a case of the firearm not being recognized by the system.”

So the technology didn't fail; it just didn't see the weapon because the shooter didn't present it properly to the camera. I see.

I think this probably is a case of the firearm not being recognized by the system. Of course we could just make it harder for people to get firearms in the first place.

The link that lib kindly provided made no mention of the shooter's race - Black or otherwise. He - who killed himself after he had killed 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante - has been identified as Solomon Henderson.

Additionally:

Analysts with the ADL Center on Extremism "have located a manifesto and social media accounts believed to belong to the shooter, where he shared a range of incel, accelerationist, white supremacist, antisemitic & anti-Black content," the organization wrote in a Wednesday post on X (formerly Twitter).

So lib is half right (he is doing his best to get his average up) when he says that the shooter was motivated by racism. I don't know who these 'accelerationist' types are - maybe they just like fast cars. Not sure. I'll look them up.

From what i recall, accelerationists want to destablize society to bring its downfall more quickly. I guess they can be both on the laeft and right sides of the spectrum, but white supremicists gnerally try to step up violent attacks (especially those that may be blamed on their "enemies") to shake the very core of society--I would guess like the Manson group is an earlier version of them. And Lib's assessment shows that their efforts can be successful.

We Don't Know. He had loads of complaints about many things. Perhaps incel was his major motivation. I can understand that. I too could not get a date when I was his age. But I never considered picking up a gun.

When I was young, I got plenty of rejections or at least they seem like a lot. That is the way it is with the young everything undesired that happen to them is a catastrophe, but there was no thought of any retribution. In those days in the culture I lived in it was an indisputable right of a girl or woman to choose, but now a girl, if she is white, can be accused of being a racist if she doesn't choose a black boy.

They can think whatever they want I don't care, but I've been there. I know from experience boys will use whatever tool that might work for them to get into a girl's pants. Too many horny young men and boys have no principles when it comes to making a conquest.

North Africa was thought to be only an extension of Asia.

Perfectly understandable. Slaves are so hard to see. Sally Hemmings was just about invisible, sort of like Gen'l Eisenhower's jeep driver.

The great innovation attributed to Ptolemy was use of latitude and longitude for mapping, building on astral navigation principles and instruments that had already been around for hundreds of years. The distortion in his map is the result of relying on an earlier Greek astronomer's miscalculation of the circumference of the Earth. So I don't know who these benighted "Europeans" are that liberty constantly refers to, unless he means those guys who brought a millennium of "Dark Ages" ignorance, poverty and violence on themselves while the civilized world continued its pursuit of science, technology, arts and commerce.

Just curious lib - do you not believe that your ancestors a while back (maybe 10000 generations or so) were black? Modern evaluation of paleontological hominid evidence suggests that we are all 'out of Africa.'
