Can Somebody Make an Argument to Support Trump's Tariffs?

I'd really like to hear a logical argument in favor of Trump's recently declared tariff war.
I read this white house fact sheet, and it looks like Trump's tariffs are being framed as a battle in the war on drugs and illegal aliens.
I thought Trump said tariffs were going to make groceries and energy cheaper.
How's that gonna work?
Trump's apparent war on drugs doesn't focus on enforcing existing drug laws or changing them. Instead he thinks he should punish the countries where fentanyl is manufactured and countries they pass through to get here. Of course, as he says, people here in the US might also go through "some rough times".
What me worry?
I don't understand. Somebody please explain it to me.
In the meantime, while the economy is possibly on the brink of a recession and all the newspeople are going nuts talking about it, Trump is attempting to reshape the US government and claim absolute power.
I wonder how soon it will be before he starts having regularly scheduled military parades....
P.S. While I was writing this I saw Trump on TV and he seems to be making Tesla commercials. Would you buy a Tesla from Trump? Especially a used Tesla?
I would sure appreciate it if someone could make sense of all this for me.
liberty?
Thanks.....
