CVS, headquartered next door in Rhode Island, won’t offer the COVID vaccine to anybody in Massachusetts no matter if their doctor prescribes it to them.

I called my doctor’s office today to ask if they have stock and will give me the jab - will hear back Tuesday but I’m sure they don’t have the newest it hasn’t released yet.
I suspect they are going to try to keep any of us from getting it.
Nothing better for the social safety net than to reduce the number of people using it by letting them die of preventable disease by refusing them access to lifesaving ‘interventions.’

That's ridiculous. RFK Jr is just as dangerous as COVID.
I was at CVS on Monday and was told I could get the new COVID vaccine that day if I wanted it. The only reason I didn't is because my doctor said he was going to let me know when he can give it to me. The last time I got it, I didn't even need to make an office visit. He was giving people the shots in the parking lot outside his office.

They had the new vaccine? Or boosters from this past season?
I keep being told the newest vaccine is awaiting FDA approval for release mid-September.

It is my understanding that it is the new vaccine.
The CVS website says this....
The updated 2025 – 2026 COVID vaccine is now available. Appointments may be limited or unavailable in some states. Check back soon for additional availability.

But since intelligent people, people who believe in modern science and medicine instead of listening to someone whose only qualification for their position is how well they could pucker up, will seek out and get the jab, it will be the knuckleheads who blindly follow King Donald the First who will eschew the vaccine and sucucmb to whichever variant is making the rounds these days. Maybe THAT'S how we will finally free ourselves from the curse of MAGA — like the seemingly invincible aliens in H.G. Wells'
War of the Worlds, the smallest bacteria or virus will wreak havoc on their numbers and eventually bring them down and put an end to them.

In the meantime am I going to have to pay to get a US passport and for travel and accommodation to go to St. John New Brunswick for a COVID vaccine?

Please note the details in the post that begins the thread: Not available
1. From CVS 2. in Massachusetts
Read to me as a idiosyncratic business decision on the part of one company.

More articles have since released indicating Walgreens and other pharmacies in MA are not offering COVID vaccine appointments to anybody here because of the absence of ACIP recommendations and compliance with state law. Pretty sure we just won’t be getting it until/unless ACIP recommends, unless our governor can figure out a way around the general statutes as currently written.
I’m looking to schedule an appointment in Rhode Island in the next few days and will pay the $200 out of pocket if my insurance considers it out if network - I suspect they’ll cover it but I’ll let you know.
Meanwhile lots of poor Bay Staters don’t have the transportation or other means to go out of state to seek what should be readily available vaccination.
