During their divorce proceedings, Ivana testified under oath that Donald Trump was furious with her after undergoing a painful scalp reduction surgery performed by a plastic surgeon she had recommended. She testified that in retaliation, he held back her arms, pulled out fistfuls of her hair, and sexually assaulted her.

That's kinda like complaining that if a man gets a little scratch on his ear, it is reported as a crime....

FWIW
Ivana Trump had already walked back the rape allegation in 1993 as the book was about to be published.

“During a deposition given by me in connection with my matrimonial case, I stated that my husband had raped me,” Ivana Trump said in a statement at the time, as the Daily Beast reported. "[O]n one occasion during 1989, Mr. Trump and I had marital relations in which he behaved very differently toward me than he had during our marriage. As a woman, I felt violated, as the love and tenderness, which he normally exhibited towards me, was absent. I referred to this as a 'rape,' but I do not want my words to be interpreted in a literal or criminal sense."

After everything we have all learned about DJT, do you SERIOUSLY believe her walk back??? She did that to maintain her safety and access to her children, DUH. Like millions of women of all classes do when they find themselves in abusive marriages and have financial and family ties that divorce won't completely dissolve.

And yes, I already knew about her walk back. I've also heard the same too many dozens of times to count while on the hotline and in the court system with DV victims as an advocate and as a prosecutor. It's something everyone in law enforcement who works with victims has seen too many times to count - victims minimizing the abuse they have suffered after they face the ramifications of telling the truth. That's one of the biggest obstacles to helping people in these situations - I certainly hope YOU know that.

I do not believe for even a fleeting moment that Donald Trump has ever exhibited love and tenderness toward anyone other than himself. Never have I seen a man so much in the public eye who has consistently demonstrated so little regard for others, including his own children, except on a purely transactional basis; he's the walking definition of a psychopath.
I referred to this as a 'rape,' but I do not want my words to be interpreted in a literal or criminal sense.
This reeks of a statement cooked up by lawyers to avoid a defamation suit.

She's obviously lying:
As a woman, I felt violated, as the love and tenderness, which he normally exhibited towards me, was absent.
Donald Trump exhibiting live and tenderness? In what universe?

I think her saying that was a way to say the entire document was a lie.

ETA: Sorry Sue, I didn't see your post until after I posted. And I think you're right about a potential defamation suit.

Yeah, that's why I was careful to put FWIW . . . I figured y'all would reach the correct answer of "Zero". I almost choked when I read that "love and tenderness" exhibition

Honestly I was thinking too small before reading the clip below. A better -- and frankly more on-brand -- explanation is that the walk-back was not so much about a potential defamation claim against Ivana, but giving Trump a basis for filing defamation claims against anyone else who might say he was a rapist based on her sworn testimony:
When the Daily Beast recounted the incident in 2015, Trump fixer Michael Cohen, still on the bus and not yet under it, claimed that “very clear case law” held that “you cannot rape your spouse,” which is not actually the law anymore. And then he threatened the reporters, saying
“I will take you for every penny you still don’t have. And I will come after your Daily Beast and everybody else that you possibly know,” Cohen said. “So I’m warning you, tread very fucking lightly, because what I’m going to do to you is going to be fucking disgusting. You understand me?”

“You write a story that has Mr. Trump’s name in it, with the word ‘rape,’ and I’m going to mess your life up… for as long as you’re on this frickin’ planet… you’re going to have judgments against you, so much money, you’ll never know how to get out from underneath it,” he added.
If she goes on record saying it wasn't rape, she won't get dragged into every later defamation case as a witness.

You could well be right.

But i still think the "love and tenderness" was inserted as her way of sticking up her middle finger to the Donald, nothing he could go after her for, but a way of telling people her statement has no basis in reality.

Love that line. I will use it - after a decent interval of course - and claim it as my own.
