I wonder, over the past 20 years, how many Iranians have been killed by Americans, and how many Americans have been killed by Iranians. Anyone remember the Iranian Airbus, on a scheduled route, shot down by the USS Vincennes? Captain Rogers, who was almost universally accused of being trigger happy in past incidents, was awarded the Legion of Merit for 'exceptionally meritorious conduct' - the Vincennes was equipped with Aegis which was the then state-of-the-art system for identifying and targeting enemy aircraft.

Add to that what occurred when we sponsored the Shah, the death toll rises considerable. Somehow we always seem to wind up on the wrong side of promoting freedom, and we will again. Even thiugh Reagan ended the cold war years ago ( , sorry, I couldn't resist it), our foreign policy has generally been to support any right wing dictatorship, no matter how brutal, because they're not commies. Pretty sad.
