What, no love for The Donald?

Post by Sue U »

... now that he has single-handedly forced the President to disclose that he is an actual U.S. American Citizen -- the dark secret he has been keeping from the public?

Of course, this one's a fake, too. Where's Orly Taitz these days?

Wow, so you can't talk about oil, petrol prices, OPEC etc until you see the President's birth certificate?

I did not know that.

He hopes it is fake, that is why he has to examine it "really closely".

I long for the campaign where they tell the truth and just say " You can't vote for him! He is black and has a funny name", cause you KNOW that is why they have so many issues with the president.
Bah!

The hilarity in American politics is in watching "serious" Republican politicians frantically dogwhistling the lunatic fringe that now constitutes the party's "base." And then in stomps Trump the Buffoon, clumsily dropping all pretense and blithely pandering directly to the most racist elements of the electorate. And being smug about it! Yes, he and only he has uncovered the TRUTH about Obama! Which is, of course, OMG he's black!

I keep thinking that politics in this country just can't get any dumber, and yet every day it does.

It's a risky Game Obama is playing right now. After all this time to release it now Just makes him look suspect. (on principal at least) The only way this can make him look good is if the birthers in turn start demanding further evidence/discrediting this.

At some point, we do manage to get serious. Bread and Circus for now.

Is there any chance someone can put a big sign up when American politics get serious? As far as I can see, as an avid foreign observer, it's ALL some bizarre parody of political life as we know it.

It's already started. Check out a few birther websites. They aren't giving up.

And "makes him look suspect" how? That he's finally gotten sick and tired of taking the high road by ignoring the dogs yelping, and he wants to try to shut them up once and for all?

Sure, the whole birther controversy is nothing but a Democratic conspiracy. And pointing to the obvious (to anyone with the brain cells of a turnip) racism of the birthers makes one a racist? Then I plead guilty. The birthers are racists. Period. If this was really about making sure someone was constitutionally eligible to be president, then it wouldn't be an issue at all, because having an American mother makes Obama a natural born American, even if he had been born on the moon. But, he's got that African father, which all the birthers never fail to point out.

Yes, and of course that same percentage of the American people (roughly equivalent to the Republican base) who believe he is not a citizen also believe he is a Muslim.

I really do hope the birthers keep it up, though, including all of these legislative initiatives in the states that are being pushed through in a blatant ploy to give Obama trouble getting on the ballot. Let them continue to paint mainstream Republicans, who don't criticize them too fiercely for fear of offending the Tea Party set, with the brush of their idiocy.

Despite all the evidence, the number of Americans who believe that he is not eligible to be president, and that his birth certificate is a forgery, did appear to be significant, before today's announcement.

Polling on this issue has tended to vary, but a recent CNN poll suggested that 43% of Republicans said they weren't sure Mr Obama was born in the US.

Maybe because there's been stories about it in the MSM every fucking day for weeks, just because even if Donald Trump is an idiot, he's an idiot who tends to make the news whenever he opens his witless mouth, and it's a distraction the country doesn't need right now?

Not arguing about the idiocy of the birthers; just lampooning Sue's comment that "The" hilarity in American politics is looking at R idiots, as opposed to the bipartisan and nonpartisan show of idiots.

The Democratic party deserves a better party of opposition.

The Republicans have veered off into wild stupidity as the "southern strategy" grafted the stupidest and most evil people in the United States onto their core.

Outright lying is now an accepted form of communication by Republicans.

I agree that Mr Trump's follicle health is very poor.

I am astounded that a man with his wealth has not had a suitable weave made like others have done.

Does he have no sight?

You may have noticed, since it's been in all the papers, that the Democratic Party leadership is not exactly trying to appease the party's so-called "leftist"* base -- in fact, it is alternating between ignoring them and actively pissing them off in its mad policy of capitulation to every goofy GOP demand so that John Boehner won't cry anymore. Barack Obama is for all intents and purposes a traditional Eisenhower Republican, and today's Republicans are mad as eels.

_________________________

*To the extent there is any "left" in America anymore, it is certainly not in the Democratic Party, which has been a center-right organization for decades. The DSA once (20 years ago) held some promise of producing an actual social-democrat bloc in the US, but it has not been able to bridge the political culture gap that has marginalized socialist parties in the U.S. since the 1950s.

Not surprisingly, the MSM is ignoring the relevance of this whole matter.

When you conceal something that one normally exposes, YOU CREATE THE SUSPICION that you have something to hide. It is a huge burden for defense attorneys when the defendant won't even get on the stand to deny that he did what he is accused of doing, because the natural and normal tendency of the jury is to assume that if he won't even get on the stand (and face cross examination) then he must be guilty.

Barry created this whole Birther thing by not being forthright when he manifestly should have been.

And like it or not, the Donald has raised legitimate questions about Barry's academic bona fides. Were both he and his wife Affirmative Action Barbie's?

I am more than a little bit curious to know how he ended up graduating from Harvard Law MCL, and was editor of the Law Review. In my law school, editor of the law review was an honorary title given to the person who had the highest grade point average in the graduating class. Also, ALL of our grading was totally anonymous - the profs did not know whose papers (tests) they were grading.

If that was the case at Harvard Law when he graduated, then he was an academic superstar. But unlike Gore, Bush, Clinton, etc., no academic records have been released.

Barry strikes me as a bright person, but not brilliant - but then again many politicians make it a point not to sound as intelligent as they are, because it turns off a lot of voters.
