Should your state recognize polygamist marriages?

Post by liberty »

Should your state recognize polygamist marriages. Well, should they.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

My state already recognizes polygamist marriages.

And after it recognizes them, it prosecutes them.

My Italian relatives on the other hand, have always defined 'bigamist' as a thick fog heading inland from the coast.

"Hey Luigi! The weather man he's a say there's a bigamist headed thees-a way! I was a-hoping for some-a sun today while I'm-a be stomping on-a my grapes-a!"

I think my state, (that would be Virginia, I am a Virginian currently residing in California) should recognize poltergeist marriages...
In folklore and the paranormal, a poltergeist is the apparent manifestation of an imperceptible but noisy, disruptive or destructive entity. Most accounts of poltergeist manifestations involve noises and destruction that have no apparent cause.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poltergeist

I see no reason why the state should prohibit the marriage to, (or between) manifestations that are noisy, disruptive, destructive, and/or have no apparent cause....(so long as they are of legal age...this would exempt my son)

In the same spirit, (no pun intended) I would like to go on the record as saying that I also favor the state allowing marriage between soccer hooligans....

I also favor allowing the marriage of polynomials....

If expressions of finite length constructed from variables and constants, using only the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and non-negative integer exponents want to get hitched, who am I to judge?

So far we have had three votes all in favor of the proposition.

I think it's only fair that pollyputthekettleon's should be allowed to wed.

And pollywannacrackers....

Our parrot Max, has far better judgement than I do....

He's much better at figuring out when his comments will be appreciated around our house than I am, for a start...

In which case I think it only fair that Polyanthus be allowed to marry, they'd look so pretty together.

And Pollyannas of course....

I see no reason why anyone should be denied the blessings of marital bliss just because they're unrealistically optimistic....

(In fact, that's pretty much a prerequisite for making the decision in the first place.... 8-)

And don't forget poli-tically opposed people. They should be allowed to marry despite their opposing views on marriage and opposing views on everything else in their lives and the world.

That's progress.

If we give everyone the right to marry each other, we will eventually all be able to relate to not getting along with people we have an intimate relationship with, which will go a long way toward accomplishing nothing.

And accomplishing nothing is much more productive than actively attempting to create a negative situation.

Joe, you should send that one in to the Obama campaign....

They've been desperately casting about to find an over-arching campaign theme that could be encapsulated in a few words....(from their point of view, anyway)

That fits the bill perfectly! :ok

Hmmm...

Looking at the word 'polygamist' I deduce that it means somebody who plays multiple games simultaneously so is obviously an archaic term for 'woman'.

In that case, yes! Women should be allowed to marry. Nothing but same-sex weddings between blokes would probably get tedious after a while. Let's mix it up a bit and let women have a go!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Just a guess, but I believe there may be just a tiny bit of chain-jerking reflected in the vote, lib....
