Ron Paul is a nutcase so not getting his support is, good, right? But then Ron Paul is a nutcase so getting his partial support is, bad, right?

On still another hand the motivated but ignorant shock troops of the Tea Party are all pretty heavily Randian like Paul and the Veep-hopeful Ryan is very heavily Randian (although like Mitty Ryan has started repudiating things he enthusiastically supported for many years).

Keeping Paul at arms length but still in sight is probably the right move. Now R&R can rub up against crazy and still hope not to get any of it on them.

TAMPA -- Mitt Romney's presidential campaign gave Texas Rep. Ron Paul a chance to speak at the Republican National Convention, but he declined due to the conditions of the offer, the New York Times reports:

Mr. Paul, in an interview, said convention planners had offered him an opportunity to speak under two conditions: that he deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign, and that he give a full-fledged endorsement of Mr. Romney. He declined.

"It wouldn't be my speech," Mr. Paul said. "That would undo everything I've done in the last 30 years. I don't fully endorse him for president."

Republicans plan to show a tribute video honoring the the retiring libertarian politician Tuesday at the convention. Paul is also holding his own rally nearby on Sunday afternoon.

Let's see...if Michael Moore gave a lukewarm endorsement to Barry...

Would anybody - even Michael Moore's mother, assuming he has one - give a shit?

I doubt it.

Same, same.

Is Michael Moore a congressman now? Has he been running for the nomination for president? Is he a leading spokesman for some mirror-image of the tea party?

Ron Paul is, and always has been a crackpot. He has a few ideas that sound pleasing if you refuse to give any serious thought to them.

He in fluences NO ONE. His candidacy is analogous to that of the late Pat Paulsen.
