"Go f-- yourself," Boehner sniped as he pointed his finger at Reid, according to multiple sources present. Reid, a bit startled, replied: "What are you talking about?"
House Speaker John Boehner couldn't hold back when he spotted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the White House lobby last Friday.
It was only a few days before the nation would go over the fiscal cliff, no bipartisan agreement was in sight, and Reid had just publicly accused Boehner of running a "dictatorship" in the House and caring more about holding onto his gavel than striking a deal.
"Go f-- yourself," Boehner sniped as he pointed his finger at Reid, according to multiple sources present.
Reid, a bit startled, replied: "What are you talking about?"
Boehner repeated: "Go f-- yourself."
The harsh exchange just a few steps from the Oval Office -- which Boehner later bragged about to fellow Republicans -- was only one episode in nearly two months of high-stakes negotiations laced with distrust, miscommunication, false starts and yelling matches as Washington struggled to ward off $500 billion in tax hikes and spending cuts.

Okay, well, it wasn't John's best week...
And in fairness to him he let go with that exasperated expletive, after Harry had been all over the tube for several days talking about how, "John Boehner can't control his caucus"...
Under the same circumstances, I might have told Harry to go fuck himself as well....(John obviously had enough problems without Harry...)
Though I think it's fair to point out, that if it weren't for The Tea Party and their ability to get one of their loonies nominated by a plurality in the GOP primary in the 2010 Nevada Senate race, (Sharon Angle) we wouldn't even have The Odious Harry Reid to kick around any more....

If you think Harry Reid is the most odious politician on the Hill, you're drugged. Boehner gets the award for 2012. Calling *him* an asshole is an insult to rectums everywhere.

I think if there's any "hero" in this sorry saga that's just been played out, it would be Mitch McConnell...
Who didn't spend a whole lot of time posturing on TV, but when push came to shove, delivered 40 out of 47 votes from his caucus to get this deal done...

Rectums/assholes are very earnest and efficient organs which can differentiate between solids, liquids and gasses with near 100% accuracy and do the right thing in each case.
Rectums are good.
Boehner is a nasty disease who will fuck the US for the smallest partisan advantage.

the Chinese soft-shelled turtle passes waste urea through its mouth, making it the only animal currently known to do so.
Well, we all know that one was short at least
one...

That's ridiculous...
John Boehner is a decent guy trying to do his best in a very tough job. (BTW, I would say the same thing about Obama, though I consider most of his beliefs badly wrong-headed)
Harry Reid, on the other hand, is a shameless sleazebag of the first magnitude and has been for years....the man leaves trails...his greatest fear is someone coming after him with a salt shaker...
Hey Harry, you finally gonna tell us who told you that Romney hadn't paid taxes for 10 years?

All of them suck. On a limited basis I voted out those who I didn't read up on only because I didn't like the state of affairs. can't keep up on all the shit Those I voted in or out where I did my "due diligence" will be evaluated going forward. So far they have failed.

I disagree Oldr. Many still try to do what in their mind is the right thing, where the best answer is usually the least wrong choice rather than a good solution. There are indeed huge differences between those like Reid who far surpass the stereotype of the sleezy pol (where I am in total agreement with LJ), and those who have similar politics, say Ron Wyden, Dianne Feinstein, etc., who actually have character. I always have to remind myself to step away from the instant chatter about this one or that one being evil or stupid, or doing something I don't like.
