I prefer a "old school" version, how about you rubato?

I like both versions a lot. The orig. gospel version really rocks; you can hear the power in gospel music that Ray Charles and many others tapped into early in the history of R&B and R&R. The first time I went to Jazz Fest in N.O. in the early '80s the gospel tent was a revelation. Those choirs and small ensembles that sing together several times a week for generations in little country churches just get a sound you can't hear anywhere else.
You Tube has a lot of Alan Lomax recordings. Worth an afternoon looking them up.

Feel the spirit! Makes you want to go out and sin a little so you can get saved all over again.
As an aside there is a different quality in music created and performed primarily for the immediate audience. The genuine.
