You would think from the hair on fire hysterical attitude from many on The Left on this, that the Supreme Court had re-established Plessy V Ferguson as the law of the land...
The fact is that over the past couple of years, The Justice Department has used Section 4 of The Voting Rights Act to block at least two states (Texas and Florida) from enacting voter ID laws that have passed Constitutional muster in other states..
Why should a law that is Constitutionally acceptable in Indiana, not be acceptable in Texas?
If the Justice Department is using the Voting Rights Act to prevent targeted States from doing what the Supreme Court has said that other states may do, there's an obvious political factor in play here...
If the Justice Department is using The Voting Rights Act to prevent Texas and Florida from having the same Constitutionally acceptable voter ID laws as Indiana, it is the Justice Department's behavior that should be held as suspect, not Texas' or Florida's...
There remains a legitimate reason for a well structured, intelligent Voting Rights law...
Racism has not come to an end...
But the approach needs to be intelligent and modern, and not reflexive...
