2nd Annual Plan B Person of the Year Award

Post by Joe Guy »

Once again it is time to give recognition to the most special poster-person at Plan B Forum. As a warning, I will probably screw this up somewhere along the line and might be forced to change some of the rules.

You can vote for up to 3 different people and you are allowed to change your vote. The poll will end in 3 days. DOUBLE VOTES DON'T COUNT. You have three votes to use but you can only give a maximum of 1 per person. Of course I don't know if the poll lets you use 3 votes for one person, so if it does, you are allowed to cheat.

The poll only allows 10 candidates. So I didn't put in everyone's name. I used the 'first name that came to mind' technique to pick the posted names. However, almost everybody is eligible. If you want to choose someone who is not on the list, go ahead and write the name in a post.

Don't forget people like Tim, Dales and Rick (who is MIA). There is also Scooter, Sean, RayThom, Beer Sponge and a whole bunch of others.

Special rule that I just made up!! If you have anybody on "Ignore" votes for you won't be counted and you are disqualified from winning unless you are in the legal profession and live in Montana. Similar situations - including for example - someone who lives in Indiana and has anyone on Ignore will not have an exemption and nobody will care what you write unless it's something good about me.

When you vote you might want to write a little bit about why you chose that person. If you don't want to do that then don't do that. But if you do then you might get others to vote for that person.

If there is a tie between two or more people in the number of votes, I will decide who the winner is because I just decided there can be no tie.

In closing, this is one of the lamest things I've done (I never thought I'd do it again) and my heart is not in it, but I will monitor this thread for the next three days and then respond or something.

So go out there and vote! I have another idea too. If you want to write about why you should be considered the Plan B Person of the Year, you should dedicate at least one post to it.

I'm sure something will come up that may need clarification. I will be around from time to time to make new illogical rulings.

Now go out there into Plan B Land and participate......... :fu

I fixed that. Gob doesn't need to be on the list because he is the Plan B Person of the Century.

The poll will end in 3 days.
I think you ought to extend that to the middle of next week, because there are some folks who don't come by on the weekends.

On a related note, which poster was the Plan B Person of the Year Award recipient last year? Or did you label it 2nd Annual just to sound good?

And if it is only the 2nd Annual, what took you so long in starting the tradition??? :nana

Meade jumps out to a big lead with twice as many votes as his nearest competitor...

Meanwhile, it's a nine-way tie for second place...

Yes, folks, it's still anybody's ball game!

I must say that this year it is one of the most exciting beginnings in history for this annual award. The lack of votes is clearly an indication that our voters are taking this contest seriously and not voting based on impulse or some congenital finger twitch they've developed and not told us about.

All eyes right now are on MajGenl.Meade. Will he be Plan B Person of the Year for 2014?

Is it too early to tell or are we seeing a trend? Is there an unknown that we don't know about or is it even possible to know about an unknown? Are the candidates preparing statements or are they busy going about their lives with little or no consideration given to the outcome of this groundless tradition?

All of the above is what makes all of the above something to consider.

Only time will tell unless there is another way to know the outcome without involving time....

I'm willing to buy votes.

OTOH, I didn't vote for myself because I'm too cheap.

I'm about to play you a recording. I decided to take a walk and interview some people to get their thoughts on the 2nd Annual Plan B Person of the Year Award.

Out of all of the 20 or so people I approached, only one man with his family would talk to me. Most people said, "Fuck off!" or "You're freakin' stupid!" or something similar. Then I found this middle aged man, Antonio Paloma Nunez Jiminez Berkowitz Rodriguez, with his three sons and his wife, Mary. Antonio was holding a cardboard sign that said, "Can you help me I lost my job".
Joe Guy: Hello senor. Hello senora y ninos.

Antonio Paloma Nunez Jiminez Berkowitz Rodriguez:
My name is Antonio Paloma Nunez Jiminez Berkowitz Rodriguez. Nice to meet you. Allow me to introduce my wife, Mary, and my three sons. They are twins (I chuckled). This is Jose, this is Hose B and this is Hose C. They don't speak ingles.

Can you help me out man?

Joe Guy: You say you lost your job. Do you remember where you were when that happened?

Antonio Paloma Nunez Jiminez Berkowitz Rodriguez: Si....uh yes. I was at work.

Joe Guy: Do you remember where your job is located?

Antonio Paloma Nunez Jiminez Berkowitz Rodriguez: Yes, but I no longer have it.

Joe Guy: Let's see.... You know where your job is yet you claim to have lost it. How can I trust you? By the way, are you following the 2nd Annual Plan B Person of the Year Award election?

Antonio Paloma Nunez Jiminez Berkowitz Rodriguez: You are estupido. I have no use for you unless you can help me. But yes, I am hoping that MajGenl.Meade becomes this year's 2nd Annual Plan B Person of the Year.

Joe Guy: Muchos gracias, senor. I must go now.

Antonio Paloma Nunez Jiminez Berkowitz Rodriguez: Eat shit and die!! You are an asshole.
Maybe I'll try another part of town for my next interview. Not sure yet.

Well Joe, I think we can say we're off to one of the most exciting starts in the history of this storied competition...

After the first furlong, it's Meade, Sue, and a dark horse, Econo, running neck and neck ...(and neck)

With BSG, Guin, Big RR, and LJ trailing by a length, and the rest of the pack coming on hard on the outside...

What an exciting competition it is!

Back to you in the booth Joe...

Thank you, Jim.

This might be a good time to remind some of you that getting the most votes doesn't indicate that you are the best person at Plan B. It means that you have had a major effect on the people that post here in the year 2014.

Although I suspect that the ultimately chosen person will be one that is popular among us residents, it's not a requirement.

Remember, vote early, often and change your votes whenever you feel like it.

That's right Joe...

Both Adolph Hitler and The Ayatollah Khomeini were once chosen as Time Magazine's Man Of The Year , and neither would be mistaken for lovely chaps...

If we were using "best person" as the criteria, we could just declare it a tie between Kristina and Alice, and go home... :)

Right Jim! This Award is much more meaningful than a simple stated recognition for one's great accomplishments or ability to do something better than everyone else. The award is an Indelible mark that stays with the recipient until he or she ceases to function and passes into the unknown.

We here at Plan B have an important job before us. This is serious business and should not be taken lightly.

Then again, you might not care in the least about the 2nd Annual Plan B Person of the Year Award. You have the right to choose not to participate in any historical event no matter how significant it may end up being.

We all have the right to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem, but that discussion is for another day perhaps and has nothing to do with this subject.
