Well done kid.

Post by Gob »

A three-year-old boy has been praised by police for calling 999 when his mother fell down the stairs.

Taylor Price, from Foleshill in Coventry, was unable to wake 21-year-old Chloe and dialled for help after finding her mobile phone.

In a recording of the 999 call, Taylor can be heard telling a police call handler, "my mummy has hurt herself".

He then found the front door keys and opened the door for paramedics, who turned up to help.

Ms Price, who fell from the top of the stairs to the bottom in the accident on 23 June, has since made a full recovery and said her son had been "so brave".

In the recording, Taylor can be heard calling his mother before the calls cuts out.

The West Midlands Police operator tried to return the call but was unable to get an answer so then set out to trace it.

PC Claudette Jordan and colleague PC Sarah Wheatcroft, who arrived at the scene, said: "We couldn't believe it when the paramedics told us that Taylor had found the front door keys and unlocked the door to let them in.

"He was so calm and composed - he's such an absolute credit to his mum and family."

Ms Price said only a few weeks before the accident Taylor's grandfather had taught him what to do if there was ever an emergency.

She said: "I don't know what I'd have done without him, he was so brave."

She added: "The ambulance crew told me that Taylor had even tried to feed me some Marmite and toast, which I'd just made him for his breakfast, to try to get me to wake up.

"He turns four this month and I don't know many children his age who'd know what to do to get help. I can't explain just how proud we are of him."

Taylor has now been presented with a special award by West Midlands Police during a visit to Coventry Central police station.

Ch Supt Andy Nicholson said they wanted to give Taylor "the recognition he deserves".

He added: "He's a testament to his family and a shining example to other youngsters of what to do in an emergency. We were all honoured to meet him yesterday and he's welcome to come back and visit us at any time."
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
