This is why the chicken crossed the road (the "chicken thread" the gift that keeps on giving!):

I have been thinking deeply about the question posed in the op. If indeed the chicken did intend its dash across the freeway to "get it to the other side" (the aftercluck), then perhaps it was a Catholic chicken and it crossed the road before attempting to er..... cross the road.

Although I have no idea why a chicken would need to check that it was carrying spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch.

Not to be serious, but why do little creatures cross a road? Does the squirrel think that there might be better opportunities to find nuts on the other side? Makes no sense. They are instinctively repelled by open spaces with no "cover," so what the hell do they think they can accomplish by going to the other side? And does it occur to them that they will eventually have to return, over that same dangerous open area?

Q. Why did the chicken cross the basketball court?

A. He heard the referee was blowing fowls.

A penguin took his car to a service station because it was developing some problems.

They told him it would take an hour to fix so he went for a walk, did some window shopping, ate an ice cream cone and walked back an hour later.

"All fixed" said the mechanic, "You blew a seal"

"No" said the pengiuin, "that's just ice cream"
