Merry Christmas, y'all!

Post by Guinevere »

Auntie's sleigh is loaded and ready to go --- but I thought I'd leave you with a little Christmas carol and a wish for a lovely holiday:
“I ask no favor for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks.” ~ Ruth Bader Ginsburg, paraphrasing Sarah Moore Grimké

Indeed - what Sue said. And a Happy New Year...
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Cheers to all, Xmas day now!

Hatch just about to go spread some cheer amongst the sick and ill at the hospital.

Hen will be cooking all day, I'll be taking a 4 hour drive in the countryside to take photos.

Happy Holidays all! Having a roast lamb dinner tonight then going to watch some Christmas favorites we DVR'd whilst snuggled up under warm blankets. Tomorrow deal with the step-spawn. Too bad I don't drink.

My youngest son still works at the Wildlife park and he worked this morning (the animals insist on being fed and cleaned etc - don't they know it's a special holiday time!! :D ), so our celebrations didn't start until he got home. For me and my other two sons that meant a lovely lazy sleep in a leisurely breakfast, and quality time with our house animals (spoiling them and giving them their presents, because of course they know it's a special time!!! ]
And then we had to go and pick up the nephew, who's spending Christmas with us, and then came the fun and merriment of the presents. We seemed to have a lot under the tree 'from santa' and some of them were quite funny, and there was lots of chocolate and other junk food. So much fun and happiness.
At the moment the four boys are sitting in my middle sons room with four laptops, enthusiastically playing some juvenile computer game that they can all join in together ('Minecraft', if anyone is into that sort of stuff) and I am hearing lots of laughter and loud happy chatter. I'm so loving it!! they want me to join in as well - I may shortly, but I'm actually just enjoying listening.

In about an hour or so we'll be getting ready for dinner - we're not having a traditional Christmas food event this year. Breakfast was bacon, eggs, pancakes, french toast (Thanks someone here - TPFKA@AW? - for the great idea of using eggnog for making french toast), cheese kranskies, etc. Lunch was cold meat and salad - and chocolates and shortbread. And for tea we're getting all dressed up and going to an 'all you can eat' restaurant in the city. We tried it last year and it was a huge success, and we couldn't see any reason not to do it again this year. The place is quite upmarket but reasonably priced ($85 a head for Christmas) and they have nearly everything, and definitely enough for all tastes - starting with soups and other entree/light foods, and then we can have moreton bay bugs, lobster and all sorts of other seafood, and/or roasts and all kinds of 'traditional' meats, and/or stir fries and a reasonable selection of different types of asian food (Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese and Vietnamese at least are represented), accompanied by all sorts of veges, salads, rices, pastas etc. And then the sweest/desserts start - creme brulees, custady things, chocolatey things, macaroons, and heaps of other things that I can't think of, and heaps of fruit. No traditional christmas pudding, but I have that and custard etc at home and we'll be having that (with more salad etc) on Boxing day. As well as my sons, nephew and me, we're also going to be with another nephew and his partner, and three other good friends of the boys who had no family commitments and are thrilled to have people to share Christmas with.
So I'm enjoying not having heaps to cook or clean up after!!! And really, really having a great day.

My Army son won't be home next Christmas, so I'm thrilled that this is such a wonderful day :-)

Merry Christmas to all of you :-)

Merry Christmas everyone - I've been up for ages haven't ever grown out of waking up at silly o'clock on Christmas morning, just waiting for mother-in-law to wake up naturally but getting impatient so may have to start singing soon lol Hope everyone has a lovely day xxxx

I'm not a Christmas guy but I was hoping to at least see my family today, recent storms in the UK left me stranded in the middle of nowhere however so it's just a lonely hotel room and basic cable for me. The annoying thing is that the family departs for the sun tomorrow so I can't catch up either :( Ach well - plus points include a bottle of superb gin and some rather excellent weed procured in Amsterdam this weekend, now to hit the hotel bar and see if there are any other pathetic wretches to share my goodies with

Merry Christmas to the rest of yez :)
