What went right, or at least the way you thought it would? What went wrong? What was the 2nd biggest story of the year (3rd, whatever) after ObamaCare and Snowden-storm.
What did we miss and not do (global warming?)?
What was the cultural event of the year (Breaking Bad! Breaking Bad!) and what was the dud (I don't really like Miley Cyrus' tongue and she does dance moves 20 years late for "dancehall" and 50 years late for R&B clubs).
What will you have done (or wished) that you're so proud of that you'll lie about it in the future? What will you be glad no one took a picture of. (Remember "Kodak Moments"? Remember film?).

Right: I got my MC licence and a scooter. Got a truck I really like. Got vacation approved so I can go to a gaming convention in March. Of course, the Red Sox won the World Series!

Got sober in April and stayed that way the rest of 2013. Plan to be for 2014 too. One day and counting so far. 
Made amends to the wife and kids (on going) and the rest of the family.
Outside of that, all else seems trivial.

I went the whole year without getting fired/laid-off/downsized.
Had a fantastic vacation via a Baltic cruise.
Added a whole bunch of aches and pains.
Traded my cruiser for a Goldwing (jury's still out on whether this was a good move).
Got a fantastic bicycle.
