I wonder what could be filled in the UK if the Giants and Rangers came to play a game (even one of the World Series games); probably about the same as a cricket match here.
Oh, I vigorously disagree....
First of all, there would be an enormous amount of advance hype and publicity....I suspect the game would easily sell out Wembley Stadium.....

And secondly, you know those soccer hooligans....
Any excuse for a party....
OK Jim, i admit a series game was a bit of an overstatement; but a regular game? IMHO, Brits can see rounders (I would guess) or cricket any time they want, so what would the attraction of US baseball be? Kind of like the same attraction Americans would have in watching cricket.
If you want to talk about sell-out streaks, lets discuss the Boston Red Sox, who are somewhere north of selling out 620 games in a row (the prior MLB record was 456 games). That's packed houses since May 15, 2003. Granted they have one of the smallest parks in MLB -- capacity is 36,000+ -- but still, tickets aren't $10 bucks anymore, either.

I certainly think that there would be a reasonable amount of interest in the UK for a once a year or one off big league baseball game between two US teams, same as there was for the NFL game it's the "novelty" factor but as for American football actually gaining a following here ummm not so much it's televised on Sky regularly, even I have watched a few games now and then, but we simply aren't a big enough population to really get into another sport and make it worth anyone's while trying to set up a professional league.
If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation.

The Redskins held the NFL consecutive game sold out record for more than 20 years at RFK....
Found this -- cannot verify -- however, all I can say is it is MUCH harder to sell out baseball games over a 162-game season than it is in football over a 16-game season. The next highest active sellout streak in baseball after Boston is Philly at 105 (at the time the data was collected).

Sox have THE smallest park in MLB, but post-renovation Fenway holds 38,800 or so for day games (centerfield seats covered), 39,000 at night. The new owners have added about 2500 seats.
