You do realize that there are millions of legal firearms throughout the UK. Where does this notion come from, that the only model of legal gun ownership requires a nation to collectively get down on their knees and fellate their gun barrels in an act of worship celebrating the "freedom" to slaughter each other?

When you begin your OP with a lie (that gun ownership is not legally permitted in the mainland UK. and don't bother compounding the lie by claiming that wasn't what you meant), then what do you expect, a parade in your honour?

If you watch that Linda Lovelace scene a few more time, you will get the knack of taking your gun barrel right down to the trigger. Practice makes perfect. Perhaps you and your gun can even synchronize your climaxes.

I lost all respect for the gun rights crowd when they didn't even bother decrying the statements of LaPierre after Sandy Hook, and so many were willing to attack the bereaved parents and even accuse them of being liars and part of a conspiracy to fake the event as a mean of getting stricter gun control.

They're all either nuts or moral cowards.

I don t even know what the hell he said.

the NRA does not speak for me, I speak for myself, as does anyself respecting lowland hillbilly of the coastal plain. I do like their new commercials tho..., effective.

dales, have you noticed that whenever scooter has no good arguments he resorts to crude moronery (I made a new word!) ( moronery!!!)

I taken on a new label.

lowland hillbilly

I am actually just a country boy at heart (country boys refer to people as rednecks too it is a term of derision in the country too, rednecks are the assholes if you want a rough translation to urbanese). but, since I live in town I can t really call myself a country boy right now (or even a boy anymore!)

I can t be a hillbilly, we have no hills here...

marshbilly doesn t exactly roll off the tongue....

so..., lowland hillbilly of the coastal plain,,, will be my self identified label. next week I might self identify as purple penguin..., not!!!!

I'm going to have to throw the "bullshit flag" on that play...

I consider myself to be a part of the "gun rights crowd" but I have been nothing but effusive in my criticism of the loathsome La Pierre and the rest of his fellow lobbyists for the firearms manufacturing industry...

I've said it before, but I'm happy to say it again....

Wayne La Pierre is the scum of humanity...If there is a Hell, he's got a particularly warm spot reserved...

All of that having been said, one of the reasons I have become very reluctant to get into these "gun control" discussions, is because I can always count on getting "it" from both sides...

I am a firm and stalwart supporter of the 2nd Amendment...

I believe the Supreme Court was absolutely correct when it recognized the "right to keep and bear arms" as an individual right...

The bad guys are not going to give up their guns, any more than a plumber would give up his wrench...(it's a necessary tool of the trade)

Every person should have the right to defend themselves, their family, and their home against armed bad guys..

So, taking that position makes the people on The Left view me as some sort of "gun nut" who doesn't care about innocent children being killed...

On the other hand, I also believe that 2nd Amendment rights, (like all other Constitutional rights) are not absolute...

So I support commonsense regulations...

Universal background checks are a no brainer; I also personally believe a limit on magazine size to eight or ten rounds would do a lot to reduce the lethality of day-in-day-out gang murder violence...

What possible legitimate reason could anyone have for having a clip with more than eight shots in it? Unless the home invaders come in battalion strength (in which case a clip with 100 rounds wouldn't be enough) you won't need it...

And if you're such a poor hunter that you can't bring down a deer with eight shots, you should probably take up fishing...

Of course my measured, thoughtful position on this side of the debate gets me labeled by those on The Right as a 2nd Amendment hating pussy who wants Barack Obama to take our guns away...

This is a discussion in which I really don't have victory conditions...

wes, when someone presents a "good argument", I respond in kind.

When someone attempts to present a baldfaced lie in lieu of an argument, I have no problem expressing what I feel about that, in the foulest language I can muster, which is what happened here, and in every instance you cite. Have never apologized for it and never will.

If you feel that you have been on the receiving end of the latter more often than the former, go back and read whatever provoked that response, and explain why it deserved a "good argument" instead of the contempt I conveyed for whatever nonsense was uttered.

If it makes you feel better to think that I resort to crude language when I am stumped by the brilliance of an opposing argument, rather than when I am confronted by lies and/or stupidity, then you go right ahead and believe that to be true. I am not here to stroke anyone else's ego by pretending that lies and stupidity deserve a reasoned answer, so they are never going to get one from me.

Something else that I will never do, is speak about someone I have a problem with in the third person rather than confront them directly. Whining to third parties about what bothers you about someone is the way junior high school girls deal with their problems. Again, not interested in playing that game.

I think you are over analyzing it.

I just think that you are not a nice person.

dales just made an amusing , tongue in cheek type of post.

hardly what I d call a bald faced lie....

you lose any intellectual advantage that you might have when you resort to crudery (I made another new word!)

your phallic imagery paints a vivid picture, I must admit, but not a pretty one.

what does one s performing of fellatio on one s gun, while one is masturbating, until simultaneous ejaculation is achieved, have to do with the legality of firearm possession in the UK?

sometimes a gun is just a gun.

Not going to call you a "2nd Amendment hating pussy who wants Barack Obama to take our guns away" but I will chime in and use the same argument for magazine size as you use for guns
bad guys are not going to give up their guns high capacity magazines
Personally, my rifle only holds 6 shots (and one more chambered) and I usually never have more than 3 bullets in it anyway. I do carry ten extra bullets on my person when hunting. I see nothing wrong with limiting magazine size to ten as that is a "standard". But of course NY goes and makes the max as 7 so anyone with a 10 shot magazine had to take out 3, including the cops until they fixed that rushed through "gun control" law.

And as far as background checks, the devil is in the details. I remember reading one law, I think it was in Washington state that was so poorly written that even people trying out guns at a range (before buying a gun) a background check had to be done on each person who tried out the gun AND the guy who's gun it was originally when it was passed back to him.
Same with a gun that was passed from parent to child, (gifted, inherited, etc)

Here is an interesting article I read on guns and the MSM talking about guns:
http://thefederalist.com/2015/02/24/14- ... bout-guns/
Some highlights (go to link for explanations):
1) Don’t Lecture Anyone On Gun Safety Until You Understand The Basic Rules
1. Treat all guns as though they are loaded.
2. Never point the muzzle at anything you don’t intend to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you’re prepared to fire.
4. Always confirm your target, as well as what’s in front, behind, and around it.
Saw a picture of Ted Cruze the other day in violation of 2.

4) “Semi-Automatic” And “Automatic” Are Not Synonyms

5) “Clip” And “Magazine” Are Not Synonyms
Image

8) Handing Someone A Badge Doesn’t Make Him A Good Shooter

9) The “AR” In “AR-15″ Doesn’t Stand For “Assault Rifle”

11) “Shoot To Wound” Is Absurd And Dangerous

12) Hollow Point Bullets Are Actually Safer Than Standard Full Metal Jacket Ammunition

14) “Universal Background Checks” Are Already The Law In Many States

ETA
I am not a member of the NRA and I do believe in background checks AND mandatory safety courses for all gun purchases (pistols, rifles and shotguns). In order to get a hunting license I had to pass a hunters safety course. Buying a rifle required money only (more than a few years ago).

yeah jim, when I read your post earlier, the mag size limits gave me pause. I thought of four or five situations where a large mag would be necessary right off the top of my head.

I was pretty much with you the rest of the way.

I m not opposed to background checks, but...,

...the hard part will be deciding where to draw the lines for disqualification from ownership.

eta- modifying clips or mags is so easy that any teenager could do it anyway...
