If the French have some kind of interrogation magic that works everyone would use it. It is like lie detector test, they just don’t work. That is too bad but that is the way it is.

There is no "interrogation magic" that works every time without fail, but getting inside the suspect's head and figuring out a way to get him to talk voluntarily has a much better record of success than does torture, which rarely works at all.
