Crazy is as crazy does.
Also proof that the USA does not have an exclusive claim to nuts running around in public.
And for the record — when someone takes a one-ton (or thereabouts) automobile and attempts to drive it over the top of someone, I believe that at that point the person then has a right to protect himself — even at the point of a gun. -"BB"-
Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Sovereign Citizens are recognized by the FBI as domestic terrorists.
I have a life-long protection order against one who harassed and stalked me for almost 3 years while I was a public servant.
A Sovereign Citizen was responsible for the cop killings in Baton Rouge and they've been killing cops long before Black Lives Matters came into existence.
So I have no problem with the cops drawing down on a SC who won't comply with their requests because too many have drawn down on and murdered cops.
Not terribly funny to me, I guess, after dealing with years of that kind of insanity spewed by a gun-toting nutjob who daily accused me of treason - and the penalty for treason being what it is, and Sovereign Citizens believing as they do that they can make their own laws in their sovereign minds, I took that as a daily threat on my person. Since the guy then threatened the judge at the end of the hearing in which I was granted a lifelong protection order, I don't think I was overreacting in thinking he was capable of anything.
Yeah, not funny.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

We have a few of them up here. I have most commonly heard it used as a defense for non-payment of income tax. There are entire manuals out there purporting to explain the legal basis for sovereign citizenship and to give instructions on how to "legally" avoid paying income tax. Of course it's complete bullshit, as they find out when they go to court and have their assertions ripped to shreds.

The credulousness of these whacked out doodlebugs is a constant source of wonder and mystery. Wesley Snipes did time in the clink for falling for this kind of silliness.
