And if the thing looked as if it were even remotely possible that it was hiding some hidden danger beneath the snow that risked injury to the passengers when struck, you would have a point, but your examples of the perils that supposedly might have lain beneath are getting more and more far fetched.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I understand your point and pretty must trust you understand mine. differences of opinion with mutual respect are fine. Unfortunately, some seek to move toward the personal attack, probably to feed their otherwise unfed egos. Kind of sad, really.

The ignore feature is a wonderful thing. I owe an apology to those who advocated it in the past when I fiercely resisted it.

We are compelled by the force of time to choose and act in a state of imperfect knowledge.

I think this fact is so obvious, and such a dominant fact of our existence, that no adult could possibly not know it.

The bus driver made a reasonable, and as it turns out, the correct decision, acting as we all do, with less than certain knowledge.

It is not the bus driver's job to remove obstacles from the road with his bus. It is his job to transport passengers safely. Unless he can cite something in a union contract or in his job description that says it is okay to use the bus for anything other than transporting passengers, he clearly did the wrong thing.

Although it looks as though no physical damage was done to the bus or passengers, he took a chance that could have resulted in damage or injury.

The report on CNN said that the bus driver resigned rather than face a suspension. If that's true, the discipline offered was fair.

It's very likely may be that he has a history of problems on the job that we obviously don't know about.

But to paint him as a hero reminds me of the story of the flight attendant who argued with a passenger, pulled an emergency chute, grabbed a beer and jumped from the (landed) airplane. Another person clearly wrong being praised as a folk hero.
