Amazon Censorship

Post by BoSoxGal »

I couldn’t find the thread, but I seem to recall Gob posting about this movie, which I was looking forward to seeing when it released to streaming. Turns out Amazon cut all the gay sex. I’m puzzled because I’ve watched plenty of movies on Amazon with steamy soft porn sex scenes.

Is Bezos suddenly homophobic?

I doubt Bezos is in that much control of low level day to day operations. In this day and age, I would think something else was up.

Are we sure this isn't just a version edited for general release in the U.S. (to get an R rather than an NC17)? I could totally see that happening.

Okay, this article indicates that it was the distributor Goldwyn that edited the film, apparently to maximize revenue by licensing it to Amazon as a Prime free film? It’s no longer available in that format and the rental/purchase version is the original director’s cut.
