Look, sportsball is big business in the U.S. and if you're head coach at Enormous State University then your next career move may very well be into the professional leagues, where head coach pay is in the mid-to-high seven figures (and sometimes eight figures). Why do you hate capitalism? Exploiting the under-/unpaid labor of the worker is what makes America great (again), innit?
