I don't know how it is in the UK but here in NY it's a pretty big offense not stopping when one is in an accident and even a bigger offense when not stopping when one is in an accident when there is an injury or death.

Generally it is a pretty major offence in the UK too oldr but this guy is an asylum seeker so normal laws don't apply to him.

Not at all. But that seems to be the way there now. I'd be willing to bet a pound against a pinch of shit that this guy gad hordes of social workers, refugee agencies, prisoner charities and other well meaning do-gooders all fighting to make things go well for him.

Oh I agree, as I said earlier, If I were the father in this case I'd hunt him down and kill him.

Signs of sanity?
But Amy's father, Paul Houston, 41, has continued to campaign for Ibrahim to be deported claiming the Act had become nothing more than a charter for thieves, killers, terrorists and illegal immigrants.

Now he has been handed fresh hope after his campaign was backed by immigration minister Damian Green.

In a letter to Mr Houston, the immigration minister said: 'I agree that Mr Ibrahim should not be allowed to remain in the United Kingdom.

'Mr Ibrahim was convicted of committing an offence that led to the tragic death of Amy Houston and it is my personal view that he should be removed.'

His support comes as it was announced the case was set to go before the High Court in London.

The Home Office has granted UK Borders Agency bosses permission to take the case to the Court of Appeal in an attempt to overturn the Upper Immigration Tribunal's decision to allow Ibrahim to stay in Britain.

Since his release from prison he has racked up a string of criminal convictions, including more driving offences, harassment and cautions for burglary and theft.

They're probably not allowed to use the whistle these days, in case they get sued ...

All welcome, please stay, have some state benefits while you peddle your wares...
A Crown Court judge expressed his disgust today that a Chinese man who had been found guilty of possessing extreme pornography had previously been refused permission to stay in the UK.

Judge Andrew Bright QC heard that Li Ding had failed in an asylum bid in 2002, yet had remained in the country, leading the judge to ask: 'What has been going on for nine years?'

Commenting on his status in this country, Judge Bright said 'It’s not a satisfactory state of affairs for either him or this country. He has no right to be here or to work here.'

Perhaps the Judge should check with his counterparts and find out how come this guy was released back into the streets instead of being deported immediately.

Immediate deportation does not usually happen in the UK oldr. The deportee has the right of appeal, a process which can drag on for years While this is happening he is on lots of lovely benefits.

Just another example of the fucked up system in the UK.

Hopes dashed again....
A Government bid to deport a failed asylum seeker who killed a 12-year-old girl in a hit-and-run was rejected by the Court of Appeal today.

Aso Mohammed Ibrahim, 33, an Iraqi Kurd who was already banned from driving, left Amy Houston dying under the wheels of his car in Blackburn, Lancashire, in 2003.

He was jailed for four months over her death, but was allowed to remain in the UK on his release.

Amy's father, a 41-year-old engineer from Darwen, Lancashire, who has been campaigning for years to get Ibrahim deported, was present at the London courtroom today for the ruling given by Lord Justice Sullivan and Lord Justice Gross.

They rejected an application by the Home Office for permission to appeal against a decision in Ibrahim's favour - made initially by an immigration judge and upheld on appeal last year.

Ibrahim, who had faced being removed from the UK as an illegal immigrant, was allowed to stay after an immigration judge ruled in 2009 that he had established a 'family life' in this country.
