There should be a warning on it - "Do Not Snort".

And don't forget the old lead-foil tinsel, either.

I understand the need to eliminate them, but the aluminized plastic ones never looked as good — or stayed on the tree as well, due to the static electricity attraction between them and a person's clothing.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

My grandfather gave me a cool radium-dial watch for Hanukah when I was 8 or 9. The holidays were just a swell time for all kinds of health hazards.
No you don't. Have you ever seen someone die of mesothelioma?
GAH!

Hey, I remember those too!! In fact, back in 6th or 7th grade I had a radium-dial wristwatch AND a radium-dial wrist compass. In retrospect I realize that the compass was next to useless except to indicate north in the most general of terms —
(for actual map-and-compass work in the field I used one of these)

— but for a while there that glow-in-the-dark wrist compass made me the coolest kid in Troop 39.

Re: The good old days
Well...yes, I do. Just like my uncle wishes he could still get asbestos welding gear-even 50 years (and probably trillions of dollars of R&D) later, it's STILL better than anything available now.. Since I have no intentions of inhaling it, I'm not especially worried.

Some of us remember these:

It was the best thing about having to buy shoes - a free go on the bone machine

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I have. My Grandfather in 1977. Horrific. I still remember the bag draining his lungs. An incredibly vibrant active independent outdoorsy man, confined to a recliner and then hospital bed.

Re: The good old days
We had some mercury in a little bottle in my grandparent's junk drawer. Played with that stuff out loose in little balls all the time. Came from a broken thermometer.
Re: The good old days
I have an uncle that died from mesothelioma. He was a tough guy and was captain of a ship in the Merchant Marines. After he was diagnosed with it, he continued to smoke cigarettes. I guess that's because it's what all tough sailors do when they're far away at sea....
Re: The good old days
They say mercury can affect you in many ways. It affects some people's brain development , memory and hearing abilities.
I said brain development, memory and hearing ability!!....

We had our annual Hazmat Operations refresher last night and for some reason, thought of this thread.
