... since we might have to fight a war of resistance against the left to keep our rights. My cousin thinks the day will when the left will try to drive us out if the country ,and I am too sure she is not right.
You might want to remember — and maybe remind your cousin and anyone else who thinks they might have to 'fight a war of resistance' — of the track record of such 'resistances', going all the way back to the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794. If brought to bear against them, no 'armed resistance faction' will be able to withstand the massed force of the American government. Sure, they may be able to withhold for a while, and undoubtedly there would be significant loss of life
(especially nowadays versus what we saw in the days of muzzle-loaders and cannon, which was ghastly enough) on both sides, and some people will be able to 'get even' with those who they perceive as having wronged them, using the concept of an 'armed resistance' as a smoke-screen for a personal vendetta — but in the long run such a cause is inevitably lost.
So save the saber-rattling, the calls to the barricades, the threats of civil war and bloodshed — it will all be for naught anyway. Strive instead to find common ground, a point on which to build unity, rather than positions from which to create strife and division.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
