Musk Has Suspended Me Again!

Post by Joe Guy »

Apparently, this is considered violent speech. I wrote it in response to a video posted showing RFK Jr talking about the measles vaccine. Many of the existing comments were anti-vaccine so I just thought I'd add my 2 cents....

Appeal it. And try to repost it by posting a picture of it rather than typing the words. Not sure if that makes it less capable of being read by whatever technology is policing this stuff.

But you can post - or rather Elon can - that Canada isn’t a real country????

Stupid ducking social media.

My niece told me the following joke yesterday, which is going around at her school:

What do Donald Trump's underwear smell like?

Musk!

I wouldn't bother--every person posting is a little bit more in Musk's pocket. It's like Fox news; you're not going to change the opinion of the viewers (or the posters in this case) so why give Elon even a faction of a cent?

ETA: I guess I could see the point of just being a pain in the ass on the site, but you just can't be a bigger jerk than "them".

Exactly. I deactivated and deleted my Xitter account last November so as not to allow Leon to claim me as a user of the site. I went over to bluesky, which has all my favorite lawyer, health policy and general news posters from Xitter with none of the annoying ads or Nazis. As a rule I don't go on FaceSpace anymore either, but I can't delete my account because the orchestras I'm in use their member groups for communications (although we're looking to change that).

I did appeal it last night. All I wrote was that my comment was not violent and about 5 minutes later I received this by email:
X

Hello,

Thank you for your patience as we reviewed your appeal request for account, @###### regarding the following:

Our support team has determined that a violation did take place, and therefore we will not overturn our decision.

You will not be able to access X through your account due to violations of the X Rules, specifically our rules around:
In order to restore account functionality, you can resolve the violations by logging into your account and completing the on-screen instructions.

Thanks,
X
The notice seems to be missing some text regarding the "rules around" and this morning I'm able to access TwitterX. I don't understand what happened because I didn't go through any steps to restore my account. I just went to X and everything was normal.

Musk's logarithm apparently farted.

To Big RR: I'm not a paid subscriber over there. I set up a free account a while back. But you're right. Based on what I've seen over there, there are way too many jerks and, worse yet, obvious liars and political hacks who have a large following.

Joe--I don't know, but I am presuming X has ads, and the more people who are on it, the more they can charge the advertisers. Even if you don't pay a penny, he is making money.

They make money from ads and selling your demographic info.

I think X does have ads but I don't see any when I go there - probably because of my ad blocker. But I understand that logging on to X does benefit Musk in some way. But I also understand that I can't possibly be generating enough income for him that he'd notice if I didn't go there... 8-)

Joe--you're right, of course, but think what would happen if everyone boycotted X--those tiny amounts of money add up. And, personally, I'd rather throw my money away in the street than to let him get any benefit, however small, from me. It's silly, to be sure, but that's just me.

It's not only the money, it's also the "optics" of people fleeing Xitter by the millions. Every canceled account hits Leon where it hurts most.
