sourceSuspect Apprehended After Peaceful Bank Robbery in Redwood City
A bank robbery occurred on the busy streets of Redwood City yesterday afternoon, with a remarkably serene aftermath. According to a report by the Redwood City Police Department, at approximately 2:29 PM yesterday, an individual targeted the Chase Bank located at 2300 Broadway. The suspect, described as a 66-year-old Arthur Burton Gillespie from San Diego, was apprehended shortly after the crime.
Gillespie entered the bank and demanded money from a teller by passing a note. While the silent alarm summoned a swift response from law enforcement, the suspect opted for an unusual act, taking a seat in the bank's lounge area as if awaiting his inevitable confrontation with justice. The Redwood City Police Department reported that "the bank was evacuated and the suspect voluntarily exited the business." The arrest, thankfully, occurred without incident.
The Redwood City Police Department has identified Gillespie, with anticipations of booking him into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility on a robbery charge, formally known as the California Penal Code PC 211.
As investigations proceed, the Redwood City Police Department encourages those more knowledgeable about the incident to step forward. "The case remains under investigation," they note, and any person who can provide additional insight is encouraged to contact the non-emergency line at (650) 780-7100.

I guess the guy decided it wasn't worth the trouble......
Re: Meanwhile, Here in Redwood City.....
I would be interested to know more about the suspect. Maybe he has a long criminal history and was yearning to get back to a more structured living situation. Maybe he's poor and homeless and just wants three hots and a cot and substandard medical care.
Keep us posted if the story ever develops.
