I was a strict vegetarian for 10 years until my health suffered to the extent that I almost required a transfusion due to (nearly) no iron in my system.

I eat meat, but luckily living in Montana, I am able to stick to a principle that I will not eat meat that did not have a good quality of life prior to becoming my meal.

I eat grass-fed beef, bison, antelope, elk, deer that lived on the range - 'where the deer and the antelope play'.

I eat chicken and eggs raised by Hutterites and my veterinarian - both sources raise the fowl ethically.

I don't eat enough fish. It's damned expensive.

Fish usually has a terrible death.

I still love it though.

In the next few weeks I am going to learn to fly fish; getting lessons from our City Court Judge. (A true Montana woman, she is!)

Apparently the county park 15 minutes south of me - largest (allegedly ?) county park in the US - is a best kept secret for fly fishing in Montana.

Once I start catching, I'll be eating fish regularly - wild fish residing in clear mountain water, unpolluted by industry. (I'm sure it still has dioxin & other crap in its flesh, thanks to the miracle of global interconnected-ness.)

I will try to kill my catches as humanely as possible. ;)

True. Catching and killing your own fish IS a lot better than buying a suffocated fish from a supplier.

I can just taste the fresh trout, lightly floured and cooked in bacon fat...yum!
