US companies should stay away from Paris Hilton and Charlie Sheen if they want to promote their products, suggests a poll released Thursday.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll found that the socialite and reality TV actress, and the fired Two and A Half Men star topped the list of the most unpopular and least trusted personalities and were deemed most likely to damage any brands they choose to support.
Of 100 celebrities, Hilton attracted the greatest opprobrium with 60 per cent of survey respondents reacting negatively to her. Sheen was a close second, with 52 per cent of the 2012 Americans questioned for the poll expressing an unfavourable opinion.

At the other extreme, it sems like former Golden Girls actress Betty White really does have the Midas touch.
White, 89, is both the most popular and most trusted celebrity with Americans and the person most likely to drive up the business of a brand she might choose to endorse, the poll found.
White, the only surviving star of 1980 US television comedy Golden Girls, has enjoyed a career resurgence in the last few years as a saucy senior in films like The Proposal and the TV show Hot in Cleveland.
She also won an Emmy Award last year for hosting America's satirical sketch show Saturday Night Live.
White scored an 86 per cent favourable opinion in the poll, beating Oscar winners Denzel Washington, Sandra Bullock and Clint Eastwood. She easily edged out Britain's Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton (5th), Oprah Winfrey (6th), and US first lady Michelle Obama (15th) in the most trusted personalities ranking.
Some 44 per cent of those questioned said they would be more likely to do business with a company if White endorsed it.

I can't argue with that.
Naturally I would have a different top ten, and I would include others on the bottom ten. BUT, I reckon that if I was looking at selling a brand, I certainly wouldn't approach numbers 1, 2 or 3 on the bottom list unless it was an ironic piss-take advertisement campaign. In which case I would probably (also ironically) find that I had rescued them from the bottom ten.

Paris Hilton the all around media pop star arrived in “Ninoy Aquino International Airport” (NAIA) in Manila, Philippines late Sunday evening August 14, 2011. Upon arrival of the heiress of the prestigious “Hilton Hotel Empire” she was escorted to her limousine while the multitude of fans and media from international and local press welcomed her in the country despite of a rainy Sunday evening.
Paris Hilton’s intention in the country is to meet her friend Filipino superstar boxing champion Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao and wife Jinkee Paquiao and to inaugurate her new Paris Hilton Beach resort in Manila.
According to the international pop star celebrity, she would stay in the country for 5-days. Among the priority business to accomplish of the hotel heiress is to meet with the owners of Century Properties a real estate firm of the country. Paris Hilton was invited to make a special design for the upcoming important event of “Azure” the urban resort in Parañaque City.
Including her 5-day stay in the country, Hilton would be doing several arrangements for the opening of her luxury store at SM Megamall which is to be opened on August 18, 2011. The store of the American heiress would be one of the most luxury stores in the country and it bears a name after her fame.
Meanwhile, Malacañang is expecting that Hilton would meet President Aquino, during her 5-day visit in the country.
