Live and learn, I guess

Post by Jarlaxle »

I learned something yesterday. While attempting to remove the engine from an old Chevy truck, I learned...that I need a new engine hoist. :( I also learned that said engine may now need a new oil pan, since the one on there now has a large dent. And I learned that getting sprayed with hydraulic fluid will make Liz curse in two languages.

Looks like there is a delay on re-powering Liz's Blazer. :?

No kidding, that Optimiser is about a 650lb hunk of iron! Glad I didn't decide to pull the engine & transmission as a unit, that could have turned out rather badly!

And it's been a while since I priced one of these things...holy crap, that was some sticker shock. :(

I picked up one from Summit, for far less, about 10 years ago, that has as part of its resume a fully assembled 460 lifted over the front end of an F350 4x4 with a plow. that was about 700lbs on that hook....8 ft in the air....

I have pulled a 454/TH400 with mine...this 6.5 diesel was by no means the heaviest load it has lifted.
