Boston Marathon Bomb Attack?!?!?
Re: Boston Marathon Bomb Attack?!?!?
Well, I think we can safely rule out the theory that these guys were right-wing Republican Tea Party members....
As far as their being Muslim and what role that may have played, that remains to be seen....
It's certainly possible that they were Islamo-fascist wannabes who were unhappy with their lot here in The States, and worked themselves up into a phony reality where they imagined themselves to be "soldiers of Islam", and that by doing what they did they were somehow "serving the cause"...
If that's the case, it would certainly be useful to know what (if any) connection, communication, encouragement, direction, or bomb making training they may have had from any outside source....
I imagine that in gathering all their laptops and other internet access devices, the authorities will be able to sort that out....
Interrogating this guy might also prove useful in that regard, (without his brother, he'll probably spill everything he knows fairly easily) so perhaps it would be best if he didn't kill himself...

He'll have some incentive to cooperate...
While Massachusetts does not have the Death Penalty, he's facing a host of federal charges where capital punishment is an option...

What is he, 19 or 20? I know my life didn't mean much to me at that age. Live fast, die young, leave a good looking corpse and all that crap.
Of course there also was the "Superman" syndrome that goes along with that age.
Re: Boston Marathon Bomb Attack?!?!?
If he doesn't kill himself in the agitated state he's no doubt in at the moment, and then spends some time being re-introduced to reality, I suspect he won't want to die....

I KNEW THERE WAS GOING TO BE A CONNECTION...
... with the MIT story I first posted at midnight.
Chechen influenced terrorism, Al-Qaida influenced terrorism, Domestic influenced terrorism... it is ALL terrorism. Fear is the currency -- nothing else matters. A true cause becomes secondary once the wheels of death, carnage, and mayhem, start taking hold. In the end the root causes of their hatred could all be addressed, yet these radicalized hoodlums would continue to kill and maim. This is severe mental illness, and at its worst. This highly contagious disease is surely going to be "caught" by some other disillusioned person or group.
"When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose. You're invisible... You don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows..." And it is no longer a wind -- it is a tornado.
And "White Hat" may have just been neutralized.

One is a scholarship winner described by his father as an angel. The other was a boxer who once said: “I like the USA.”
The suspects in the attack on the Boston Marathon — one killed, one on the loose — are brothers with a background in the separatist Russian republic of Chechnya, at least one a legal permanent resident of the United States, law enforcement officials told NBC News.
While authorities were not sure of a motive, NBC News learned that counterterrorism officials were examining possible links between the Boston bombers and the Islamic Jihad Union of central Asia. Chechnya is predominantly Muslim.
“Somebody radicalized them, but it wasn’t my brother,” the men’s uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, told reporters Friday from Montgomery Village, Md. He encouraged his nephew to turn himself in and said the two had brought shame on Chechens. He said that he had encouraged his own family to stay away from that part of the family.
“What I think was behind it: Being losers,” he said. “Of course we’re ashamed.”
The suspect at large early Friday was identified Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, born in Kyrgyzstan, holding a Massachusetts driver’s license and living in the Boston suburb of Cambridge. He was the suspect in the white hat in surveillance photos from the marathon released by the FBI.

Re: Boston Marathon Bomb Attack?!?!?
He has not yet been apprehended, according to the press conference going on right now. Still going door to door and street to street. No developments, no apprehension.oldr_n_wsr wrote:Neutralized? And "White Hat" may have just been neutralized.

Controlled explosion in Cambridge this afternoon at secured house (at or near where suspects lived).
More leads developing.
Another briefing in an hour or so.
Communities doing what they were asked to do, residents to remain inside.

many of our liberal friends are really disappointed; those that believe in God were praying that the bomber were Tim McVeigh types and those that don’t were desperately hoping. Don’t be too disappeared it could be worse they are at least Europeans.

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Fuck you liberty, you ignorant asshole. You and Arkansas Rep Nate Bell, who have decided to make nasty and untrue comments about "Boston liberals" and how we've responded today, can go to hell.liberty wrote:manny of our liberal friends are really disappointed; those that believe in God were praying that the bomber were Tim McVeigh types and those that don’t were desperately hoping. That briefing really shows how completely the press can get it wrong in a situation like this....
Contrary to all the press reports, they don't have him cornered, they're not in communication with him, they don't really even know where he is, they're just following up leads....
All the police activity and presence doesn't indicate that they know where he is...
Just that they're checking out where they think he might be....

Re: Boston Marathon Bomb Attack?!?!?
Where did you get he was cornered? Not one press report said that -- merely that there were large police presences in certain areas. I fear you misinterpreted what you saw, not what was said.Lord Jim wrote:That briefing really shows how completely the press can get it wrong in a situation like this....

NEWS FROM ALL ANGLES
I was told that Dzhokar's body had been found in a relative's house but there were so many bombs and booby-traps in the house that the police have to perform a controlled explosion before they can proceed any further. I also was told that White Hat may have escaped to other parts of the city. Stay tuned.

What in the hell does this subject have to do with how or what liberals think?
I've been listening to talk radio and the nutcases (like liberty) seem to have come out of the woodwork in droves. I just heard someone say that we should attack Russia or we will look like weaklings to the rest of the world.

Is or what he said. Many of means not all. And you know that attitude does exist in the liberal community, are you telling me it doesn’t?

Re: Boston Marathon Bomb Attack?!?!?
Guin, I've been going back and forth between CNN and MSNBC, and I got the clear impression from what a lot of the commentators were saying that according to their "sources" that the police believed they knew where was, and there was even one report saying that they were in communication with him...(I'm not hallucinating or making this up)

Re: Boston Marathon Bomb Attack?!?!?
None of the local news channels have said that, or even implied that. I think you have to think about the larger context -- if they had him, Boston wouldn't be shut down today, or Amtrak, or the T. It's too expensive and disruptive to do that.
One question I've been wondering about all day -- where is the FBI? Not one briefer from that agency, and the Agent In Charge hasn't even been in the background. A bit odd.

Do you really believe that that is my attitude? You should know better. Neither one of those ideas make any sense.
I have never been a proponent of extremism?
