It's now being reported that he is alive and in custody.

But you've probably already heard that....

Got him! Severely wounded. Ambulance on the scene.

It's going to be VERY interesting to hear his motivations and reasoning.

Then fry him.

The Boston Police twitter account is a little overdramatic, but I think they can get a pass on this one.

At least they caught one of the guys alive, now we might get some answers.

The locals are out in the streets cheering every time a squad car goes by... :ok

Apparently the federal charges trump the state ones, so that's a very real possibility...(They will initially try to hold the federal trial in Boston, but any halfway decent defense attorney will go for a change of venue, and in a case this notorious, they'll probably get it.)

Thank you, all the federal, state, and local law enforcement who brought the bomber to justice. We will all sleep better tonight because of your intense work.

The police and FBI did a great job. It will be interesting to hear the reports on their investigation. People of Boston were terrific as well. Thanks to Guin for first hand reports.

My only concern is that I hope this murderer doesn't die from his current injuries.

It would be good for us to have a chance to get answers to many of our questions regarding motive, etc.

The authorities in Boston/Watertown have done a commendable job.

Congratulations!

Let us hope his next home will be ADX Florence in Florence, Colorado.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Just curious Jim, why would federal charges trump states charges in this case?
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

He's currently in serious condition...

According to the US Attorney, After he's well enough to take questions, they'll be able under a national security exception in the law governing terrorist acts to be able to question him for a period of time before he's Mirandized, so hopefully they'll get answers to some of the most important immediate questions...

Like, "are there any more bombs planted out there?" and "do you have any other confederates that are still on the loose?"

After those two, the next most important thing to learn is what if any connections they may have had to get outside help to pull this off.

I'm kinda in the same boat as Gob....I worked late last night, went to sleep at around 5am, and have just been catching up on it all. Kudos to all the police departments involved, and kudos to all the residents of the area for putting up with what must have been one whole day of massive disruptions to everyone's normal lives.

Because he's being charged under federal terrorism laws and that gives the Feds jurisdiction.

It's pretty amazing to think that it was just five days ago that this happened. It seems like its been weeks...

Fantastic work on the part of all involved to wrap this up so quickly.

The national security exception to Miranda is very narrow, it concerns specific siguations, specific types of questions, and specific kinds of questioning. It does not give the authorities some unlimited right to ask any kind of questions they want, or use any tactics they want, to gain information.

Guin--someone asked me a question about this exception that I don't know; does the subject of the interrogation still have a right to remain silent (or can he be coerced?). And does he have a right to suspend questioning until his counsel is present? Do you know.

I'd say the "It's a police problem" model for attacking terrorism has got the "War" model beat all to hell.
