I wouldn't want hte world to knwo, but I would like to know. As stated before, loonies looting ect. Civilization would take a serious downfall in those last days.
So, in order to live peacefully, if I can't know without the rest of the world knowing, I don't want to know.

But if word got out, I would be over my cousins house picking up my rifle (he has a very secure safe) and taking one of his many hand guns and shotguns. Then I would go back home and protect my family so we could all die together. and maybe stop by a liquor store on the way back home

A hit anywhere in hte Atlantic would most likely put all of long island under water. So If it was possible to get off this sandbar I would try and get up to the lake house. Better chance of survival up there.

This is one of those questions that many scenarios come to mind.

See, I knew it.
that's the difference between living each day as if it could be your last vs is your last.

Meade--I agree with you on everything you said, but I maintain I would do things very differently if I knew It was my last day (or week or month).

Oh, yes Big RR. If I was certain the tomorrow the world ends (or just me in the world), you can bet I'd do things differently for the final 24. And it would be different if it were the world vs. just me.

Just me - family/friends; making amends

The world - guns; family, friends, neighbors, making amends

I guess that's the point of "as if it were..." - you don't really think it is but you act well anyway! :nana

You do have a dark view of the species.

I think it is more finely balanced between those who will go out (like Gob) in a orgy of sex, drugs, and Rock&Roll burning and a-looting, and those who will try to find some more significant insight. We have always known that we will die, those who look for significance in that fact will have prepared long hence. Its never been a secret.

I think I would want to know, just for the chance to repair any mistakes in life. One more hour of life is an hour to tell those who matter to you that you love them.

Why is my view darker than yours when all I said was that I wanted to avoid the people you describe? Seems like the same view to me

Gob will not be burning and a-looting so that's pretty nasty of you to say.

If I knew the world was going to end soon, I'd spend my time in my house reviewing graphs, watching bees and dancing....

No. The challenge is to live in the moment, to be present, without worrying about the future or regretting the past.

Reminds me of a saying:
Yesterdays regrets and tomorrows worries take away from todays peace.

Any time older. It's one of the pillars of my yoga practice - to live in the present - and like so many things it can be a struggle.

I think I'd most probably like to know, since I'd really rather not be stressing over work deadlines that are irrelevant. If it's summer, I'd go down the shore with my family, swim in the ocean, enjoy the sun and sand (upside: no worries about skin cancer!). If it's winter, I'd hope there'd be snow to play in. None of us was getting off this rock alive anyway.
GAH!
