Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: These People Need To Be Exterminated
you do realize that Christianity (the new testament).....
...never mind. just read it. you are a smart guy.
the old testament was what the people needed to survive the time that they were in and were able to handle , given their life experience.
when they were ready, Christ came and showed them a better way.
the laws of god (10 commandments) remained tho.

I already read it. (The whole thing in order even those mind numbing bits in numbers try it you might learn something). What you are missing and what you are doing is saying that the same arguments for giving biblical slavery a pass are so how invalid when applied to eugenics theory.

Maybe God meant those passages to be understood ironically, or satirically. SUCH a joker!
The bible only looks like a manual for slave ownership. Really they were against it but then that scroll got lost and after Trent humor was forbidden, positions hardened, well you know how it is. Popes used to go around with gag buttons before then like "I Like Kike", "Look who's infallible now!" but afterwards ... nothing. It was centuries before Tom Swift re-invented satire.

Re: These People Need To Be Exterminated
Bigot alert
Is it bigotry when it's ignorance? Or wait... isn't purposeful ignorance evidence of bigotry? I'm confused. Hope someone writes a book so I can figure it all out.
Oh, "promote" is not (I believe) the correct word. Do history books "promote" the Inquisition by recording it? Is the Holocaust promoted by WW2 books as a wonderful idea?

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: These People Need To Be Exterminated
The bible did not just record but prescribes rules for it. (As I already mentioned)

uh, Christians and jews are different.....
start with jesus, and go from there......
jesus changed things a bit.......
eta- ...but you continue with your defenses of eugenics and slavery.....
perhaps the dawn will break, and the scales will be removed from your eyes

Not really as he said I did not come to change the law but fulfill it. You can not fully understand what Jesus was teaching unless you know the basis of his arguments
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: These People Need To Be Exterminated
how many times did Jesus say "it is written". Why bother referencing the old of it serves no purpose? Why say it unless it's worth knowing?

Re: These People Need To Be Exterminated
Well not exactly rules, but Paul does state (in one of his many letters in the NT) that slaves should be loyal to and obey their masters. Seems to be a bit of a justification for slavery.
But face it, persons in the bible are rarely black or white--they are far more complex beings; look to the stories of David (especially what he did to Uriah) or Solomon (and his 900 wives and concubines or his seduction of the queen of sheba)to see how greatly celebrated monarchs (said to be beloved of god) can be flawed. I would contend Paul shows the same thing in some of his pronouncements, as does Sanger with her embracing of eugenics, sterilization of the persons of low IQ, etc. These should be pointed out as unadulterated BS; but it does not take away from her unceasing work on behalf of making contraception available to all.

Re: These People Need To Be Exterminated
CP, this website http://www.godandscience.org/apologetic ... e.html#n09 points out that Biblical (OT) rules were actually in defense of slaves - to prevent abuse. That slavery existed is a fact... even to today in parts of the world.
As far as the NT goes, early Christians were (amongst other things), Jews, gentiles, free persons and slaves. It would be strange to find Paul (or anyone else) addressing behavior amongst free persons but not slaves. So he does address slaves (and servants too). He even says this:
Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that. For he who was called in the Lord while a slave, is the Lord's freedman; likewise he who was called while free, is Christ's slave. You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men. (1 Corinthians 7:21-23)
The question is not one of promoting or recommending slavery. It is a matter of protecting slaves and practising Christlikeness. Those who argue that slavery is a biblical mandate argue on the side of southern slaveholders who believed it meant that blacks (not just anyone) are chattels, to be put into servitude to white superiority. The kind of slavery occurring in biblical times (and therefore addressed in religious law) was not color-based chattle slavery.

Such a hoot that you guys take all this superstition so so seriously, it's all a matter of what some semi-literate goatherd thought the meaning of "is" is, isn't it?
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
