More good news.

""We are happy to announce we have completed the engineering and we have some very potent antibodies that can be effective against the virus," said Dr. Glanville.

On Wednesday, during the daily White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing, Dr. Fauci was asked about Dr. Jacob Glanville’s work with antibodies, and said he supports the concept of monoclonal antibodies.

Dr. Fauci said the science is well established."
Look I hope it's good news; but I have seen nothing in this report to indicate a cause for excessive optimism. Yes; Dr Fauci says that the science of monoclonal antibodies is well established. Er yes. That says zero about the possibility of this effort being effective.

Let's hope it works. But let's see some clinical trials before we call it news, let alone good news.

What happens after we reach day 0 in the countdown? Will the countdown continue?

After ten days I'll either be proven wrong or correct in my prediction that the drugs used in the treatment will be proven efficacious and the panic will subside with the concurrent appearance of normal stocking levels in grocery stores.

The grocery stores already have normal stocking levels again in many places - I guess you don’t do the shopping at your house?

Great news for heart attack victims in New York City! You'll no longer have to languish in the hospital emergency room!
Grim New Rules for NYC Paramedics: Don’t Bring Cardiac Arrests to ER for Revival

As the coronavirus stretches New York City emergency rooms and paramedics to their limits, a regional EMT group has issued new guidelines almost unthinkable even days ago -- if someone's in cardiac arrest and you can't revive them in the field, don't bring them to the emergency room.

The newly implemented order that takes effect Thursday was implemented in an effort to control the surge of patients in hospitals due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The guidance from the Regional Emergency Medical Services Council of New York City applies to the city as well as Nassau and Suffolk counties. The group, known as REMSCO, is the state-designated coordinating authority for the region.

You will never feel the sensation of wasted effort until you have to do chest compressions and ambu bagging of someone who is a full code, who is 88 years old and who you know is dead and not apt, in any way, to spring back to life. That lovely (i)crunchcrunchcrunch(/i) under your hands, as all their ribs fracture. Most CPR, when performed outside of an advanced clinical setting is completely ineffective. It is over utilized as are Full Code orders, which I feel should not be issued for anyone over 70 years old. EVER. Much of what I, or anyone who is working in the medical field, sees daily is a huge waste of resources and Medicare dollars. Maybe this pandemic will kick start some pragmatic thinking.

That's 679 more lives that Trump has saved! And he did that even though Obama left the ventilator shelves empty when he left the White House.

Parts of a mold used for respirator parts delivered to a GM supplier last Friday and now in production. This is on the Facebook machinists page.

I did not know that GM were making respirators. That is a very pretty piece.

I was amazed at the elapsed time between the call from the supplier, the approval and the arrival of an old fashioned design drawing instead of a CAD file and the completion of the mold. It was about a week.

Why? they’re literally not doing anything else.

The machinist said his shop was slow. Others have seen no change in the workload.

I've already praised all the private businesses that have come forward to help with their capacities and innovative approaches (Which contrary to what Darren The Dissembler would have one believe, are being reported on widely in the independent press)

Their efforts, along with those of state and local leaders, our heroic front line medical and support personal, (including tens of thousands that have come out of retirement to pitch in) and many others, are all the more critical given the complete dearth of honest, competent, consistent leadership from the top...

The machine shop up the street from me has NO work to do. Everyone but the owner, who lives right across the street, has gone home. I've known him for about 30 years, when he sold me his Cessna 210. He always walks to work. He stopped in the other morning.

His shop normally buzzes with work for Boeing, Spirit Avaition (a MAJOR Boeing supplier making entire fuselages) Cessna and Beechcraft (now both under the Textron umbrella). Wichita is heavily populated with similar small shops supplying the aviation industry. I've worked for a couple of them, and bought from dozens more as a purchasing agent for a couple of the big ones who are shut down too. All of them are hurting.

What Mr Drumpf doesn't understand is the lead time needed to make easy items, much less complicated intricate machinery like a respirator. It just doesn't happen overnight, even if he decrees that it will.

I'm surprised Trump hasn't said that in a couple days we're going to have so many ventilators that Governors are going to say, "Please, Mr. President, we beg you sir, we don't want ventilators anymore."

Many industries are taking a big hit while others are running flat out. There are several businesses in the area that make parts out of powered metal and some CNC shops.

Except for one man making gun parts, I have no idea what the others are doing. The closest one used to do a lot of work for local coal mines. That dried up years ago even though there are still a lot of coal trucks on the road.

It's going to be a mixed bag coming out of this.
