Day 3 in the countdown to an end to the COVID-19 panic.

Yes. There is a blatant falsehood in the way Darren chose to quote from that blog entry.

Somehow I don't see a month (Mar 8, not Mar 18 as you originally posted) ago as recently; broadway shows stopped on mar 12 and it would make no sense for someone to say they saw so and so recently at Hamilton.
Re: Day 3 in the countdown to an end to the COVID-19 panic.
It's starting. You have to get the educational baby sitting system going to help parents get back to work.
"Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday would not rule out sending Florida’s schoolchildren back to their classrooms in May, if the conditions are right.
“We’re going to look at the evidence and make a decision," DeSantis said, when asked if he intended to keep schools closed for the remainder of the current academic year. "If it’s safe, we want kids to be in school. ... Even if it’s for a couple weeks"

Another idiot. Add him to the list with Brian Kemp and that moron from Missouri.

Hey Desantis was being a moron for a long time this is the same guy that was assuring everyone it was safe to take cruses and then denied them entrance back in port after they all got sick
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Day 3 in the countdown to an end to the COVID-19 panic.
Thanks for correcting the date.
As far as I can tell from the Kennedy Center's website the performances were cancelled as of Mar 10th. The blogger describing his trip to the opera was probably there on Mar 7th or earlier based on the article's date of Sunday, Mar 8th..
As far as reviews they start earlier in March with the last one on Mar 7th. I haven't checked FB for others who went to the that performance.
If you find something in the blogger's article that indicates it's a fraud or inaccurate in some way, please let me know.

Re: Day 3 in the countdown to an end to the COVID-19 panic.
It was you who fraudulently reported the date as March 18th, to make something that was ancient history, as far as this virus is concerned, appear to be a recent happening.
Why raise the spectre of RBG needing a ventilator over something that occurred over a month ago? You had to alter the date, and did so deliberately, to make it appear that the event still posed some sort of danger to her.

Not good news as an immediate cure, but this article is an example of the effort by many in finding a cure for COVID-19 victims.
"Six critically ill coronavirus patients in Israel who are considered high-risk for mortality have been treated with Pluristem’s placenta-based cell-therapy product and survived, according to preliminary data provided by the Haifa-based company.
The patients were treated at three different Israeli medical centers for one week under the country’s compassionate use program and were suffering from acute respiratory failure and inflammatory complications associated with COVID-19. Four of the patients also demonstrated failure of other organ systems, including cardiovascular and kidney failure.
Not only have all the patients survived, according to Pluristem, but four of them showed improvement in respiratory parameters and three of them are in the advanced stages of weaning from ventilators. Moreover, two of the patients with preexisting medical conditions are showing clinical recovery in addition to the respiratory improvement."

Here's an antibody, there's an antibody, every where's an antibody.
Here's some really, really good news.
"A phlebotomist working at Roseland Community Hospital said Thursday that 30% to 50% of patients tested for the coronavirus have antibodies while only around 10% to 20% of those tested have the active virus.
Sumaya Owaynat, a phlebotomy technician, said she tests between 400 and 600 patients on an average day in the parking lot at Roseland Community Hospital. Drive-thru testing is from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. each day. However, the hospital has a limited number of tests they can give per day."

You do realize of course, that if those numbers are accurate, and they could be extrapolated to the entire population, that would mean that between 33 million and 66 million Americans have active Coronavirus?only around 10% to 20% of those tested have the active virus.

https://nypost.com/2020/04/10/recovered ... ive-again/More recovered coronavirus patients in South Korea are testing positive again
The number of people in South Korea who tested positive for the coronavirus for a second time after apparently recovering has risen to 91 — an increase of 40 from the 51 reported earlier this week, according to a report.
Jeong Eun-kyeong, head of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told reporters that the virus may have been “reactivated” rather than the patients being reinfected, Reuters reported.
Health authorities in the country said epidemiological investigations were under way to figure out what is behind the disturbing trend — as many countries are hoping that people will develop sufficient immunity to prevent a resurgence of the pandemic.
“The number will only increase — 91 is just the beginning now,” said Kim Woo-joo, professor of infectious diseases at Korea University Guro Hospital, adding that patients had likely “relapsed” rather than been reinfected.
https://www.baltimoresun.com/coronaviru ... story.htmlGovernment projections indicate a summer spike in US coronavirus infections if stay-at-home orders are lifted
Stay-at-home orders, school closures and social distancing greatly reduce infections of the coronavirus, but lifting those restrictions after just 30 days will lead to a dramatic infection spike this summer and death tolls that would rival doing nothing, government projections indicate.
The projections obtained by The New York Times come from the departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services. The models use three scenarios. The first has policymakers doing nothing to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. The second, labeled “steady state,” assumes schools remain closed until summer, 25% of Americans telework from home, and some social distancing continues. The third scenario includes a 30-day shelter in place on top of those “steady state” restrictions.
The documents, dated April 9, contain no dates for when shelter-in-place orders were delivered nor do they contain specific dates for when spikes would hit. The risk they show of easing shelter-in-place orders currently in effect in most of the country undercut recent statements by President Donald Trump that the United States could be ready to reopen “very, very soon.”
https://www.livescience.com/covid19-cor ... tives.htmlCOVID-19 clinicians wrestle with false negative results
Conventional diagnostic tests for the novel coronavirus may give false-negative results about 30% of the time, meaning people with an active COVID-19 infection still test negative for the disease, according to news reports.
"Unfortunately, we have very little public data on the false-negative rate for these tests in clinical practice," Dr. Harlan M. Krumholz, a professor of medicine at Yale University and director of the Yale New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation, wrote in an opinion piece in The New York Times. However, preliminary research from China suggests that the most common type of COVID-19 test, known as a reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, may give false-negative results about 30% of the time.
The Chinese research has not yet been peer-reviewed, but anecdotally, Krumholz's colleagues have expressed concern that the false-negative rate may be even higher in the U.S., he wrote.
Needless to say, a false negative test result is the worst possible outcome; even worse than no test at all. With a false negative, the person assumes they are not infected when they are, meaning they can go about their merry way thinking they won't infect anyone else, when they most likely will...
A false negative rate of 30% would be an additional complete public health disaster...A test with a false negative rate that high is virtually useless, both for the individuals tested and for providing any data on actual infection rates...

That's correct. Taking into consideration the 30% to 50% found to have antibodies, that means 99 million to 165 million people nation wide may already carry antibodies.
Of course those numbers don't take into account rural areas with little or no known cases. It's the high population density areas that have the most cases. If you take into consideration 80% of the population is urban, maybe 80 million to 132 million have antibodies. I think that's high. How much I don't know.
We know some people get COVID-19 and never show symptoms. That may explain the analysis of the sewage in Massachusetts where the viral "count" indicated 5x the amount of known cases. If you take the 1.7 million cases known today that indicate 8.5 million which seems too low. It doesn't account for people previously infected and no longer shedding the virus but may carry antibodies.
it still looks likes lots of people have already been infected and now have antibodies. If the California survey results match Germany's findings of around 15 percent of the population with antibodies that would be an indicator that something less than 50 million may already have antibodies.
If I was to guess how many already had antibodies, I'd say between 50 million and 80 million Americans.
